Flightplanning & Winds

I'm looking for a flight planning system that will incorporate enroute winds. In the real world, this of course is a big deal and sometimes makes the difference in a go/no-go long-range situation. FSNAV, FSBUILD and the like are fine but unable to incorporate winds. FSMETEO does a decent job in the wind feature, but how to incorporate into a flight plan like real-world ? Some of the add-ons like RFP offer a feature for the B742 flightplanning that will allow +/- winds for fuel calculation. Sometimes, I use my company's flight plans for FS and that works fine for the heavy iron. For the lighter GA stuff, I don't have any ideas as of yet. I just finished a FSD PA42 flight from KBLM to KICT and was several hundred pounds off from flight plan due enroute winds. Does anyone have any ideas to incorpporate winds ?

The freeware NAV 3.1 has a global wind setting under options. I seldom use it because it affects the heading field of the plan which is fine for the calc of the heading but not for listing the VOR course required.Of course during a longer route, winds aloft may change. However for minum fuel calc, not navigation, the global application might be good enough to determine ground speed and estimated flight time.

Thanks for all the information. That FSBuild 2.0 looks like the ticket. Would it also be use FSMETEO for enroute winds ? I'd really like to get that FSBuild 2.0 Shareware/Payware. Les, There is a real world flight planner you can use free at: http://www.fltplan.com/ You just need to register once, and enter fuel use data for aircraft type if you are interested in using the fuel planning function (i think it's a liability thing...). It will not only use winds aloft from real world data to calculate your ETE and fuel burn, it will give you optimal altitudes and waypoint crossing times, etc. Has some stored standard routes incl SID/STAR procedures. Only glitch is that it is for CONUS flight plans only. Might be worth a try.regards,
