Clustersize 4K (default) vs. 64K

Recommended Posts

Yes that's the same; I just didn't understand why you had mentioned that the 64K option was hidden.
The 64K cluster is not available through windows explorer (right click on drive, select format and the max allocation size is 4096bytes). 64K is only available when using disk management. That is what I meant by hidden...
73.8 MB of that is being used by an unknown folder labeled "5c5a87928930185ccc75cbc3b4" that resides on the root of my E: drive every time I do a fresh install of Windows.
System restore? Indexing service?
On a 300GB Raptor and 64K cluster format you end up with about a 279.5GB partition however that can vary some depending on the controller. Also, it can vary if you format to PRIMARY instead of LOGICAL and visa-versa
Well that is pretty negligible. Thanks all for clearing this up!
