Strobe Lights & Disappearing Buildings

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me how to adjust the strobe light flash speeds? Almost all of my aircraft flash their strobes way too fast. Can I also modify the type of strobe pattern? (i.e. flashflash-flash... pause... flashflash-flash... instead of a steady flash-flash-flash-flash)Also, I'm having an issue with all airport buildings disappearing from certain view angles. It looks like anytime I am looking at anywhere near a downward angle, from cockpit or spot or otherwise, all the airport buildings disappear. Anybody else have/had this problem? Thanks!

Hi Folks

Todd -This is a known bugged issue, (affects certain models, ISTR it's a post SP2 issue).HTHATBPaul

go to fsx effects folder, find fx_strobeh.fx. make a backup. open it in wordpad.[Emitter.x], [Particle.x], [ParticleAttributes.x] comprise one flash. copy paste for as many flashes req.you need to edit:delay=x.xx delays flash from cycle start=0rate=x.xx cycle frequencylifetime=flash durationsomeone who knows better may elaborate about other variables. set the delay times accordingly to get a relatively longer idle time for the pause you want.the default fsx strobes kind of resemble airbus ones. you can delete extra flash sets and set timing accordingly for boeing planes. you can simillarly do for the beacons aswell.I was able to edit it but after spending an hour or so doing fine adjustments I found that everything goes out of sync as soon as fsx skips a frame. you need to reswitch your lights on to get sync back. but still its fun distinguishing airbus and boeing AI planes.hope that helps
