UK MESH

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys, never been on this particular forum before (in fact just noticed it).I live in Bristol UK through which the River Avon runs through a gorge. Only problem is wiith the mesh I am using, the Gorge in the mesh is about half a mile north of the river.Where is the best place to start trying to correct this? I have never editted mesh before. Thanks, IAN

An interesting problem. If the mesh is correct, then you should consider drawing the Avon in its correct location. This means making corrections to the terrain. If you are using FS X, please see Terrain Design for Flight Simulator X in the Avsim library:http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...amp;DLID=100997Please note that SBuilderX has changed considerably since that document was written; notably, the use of the Manifold toolbar is no longer required. If you are using FS 9, then you can still use SBuilder, but the FS 9 version instead, also in the library. If the mesh is wrong and the river is in the right place, then you will have to consider making a new altitude mesh. Is this the case?Best regards.Luis

Hi Luis, Thanks for replying,Nope, it is the mesh. The mesh is fine with default scenery but I once tried the Justflight UK VFR scenery and had this problem.I'm now using Tileproxy and the same problem occurs in exactly the same location.FS9 user by the way unless someone wants to give me a PC that will run the slideshow which is marketed as FSX :( IAN

Hello Ian,Unfortunately, you cannot edit that particular mesh file or any, for that matter. If you want to fix this problem, you must make a new mesh.It is strange that there should be such a difference. Normally, relief is not subject to this kind of problem and it is more common to find that terrain features such as rivers and roads are in the wrong place, whereas the altitude mesh is correct.Anyway, you will need to find a source for DEMs for that part of England. Perhaps somebody else could give you indications if you do not know of any.Best regards.Luis
