Atlas Air flag reversed

Recommended Posts

Guest 413X3

I think I brought this up a long time ago, but the Atlas Air 747F repaint for FSX has the port side american flag backwards. the stripes always fly away from forward. Can this be updated on the download site?-Alex

When displayed on a flat surface, the star field should always be to the flag's own right or to the observer's left. Got nothing to do with direction of travel. See: http://www.usflag.org/flagetiquette.html

That's not right. What you stated is true when displaying the flag indoors, not on the side of an airplane. When the flag is placed on a vehicle, the field is always toward the direction of travel.Check out a picture of "Air Force One" for reference: http://www.freefoto.com/images/20/34/20_34...rce-One_web.jpgNick

Nick is right, anytime the flag is displayed on a vertical surface, it is treated the same as on a flag staff, example is the flag patch on uniforms. When it is on the left, it is displayed normally, when on the right, it is displayed in reverse as it would look if hanging from a flag staff.Gary
