ScanAFD for OOM's in FSX?

Recommended Posts

Well, it looks like I hurt FSX's feelings.Does anyone know of a duplicate or similar program to "ScanAFD" that worked so well in FS9, and is available for FSX?I have flown both FS9 and FSX for some time (ever since FSX came out). Recently, I migrated back to FS9 a bit more than usual and must have ticked off FSX.I just made a flight in FSX from KLWB to KJFK (FSDreamteam) and got an out of memory error near KJFK. I moved the error window out of sight, ignored it and continured my flight with textures that turned into a desert. On final, I got a second out of memory error window (first time I ever saw that), and FSX virtually locked up with a frame rate of "1". Thanks to AutoSave, I restarted FSX and continued, but this is still the pits.It has been quite some time since I got an oom error or added anything new, so was a bit surprised. I thought all conflicts and duplicates had been removed long ago, but it appears I had one hiding somewhere. Thankfully, I always save a duplicate virgin backup installation of both MSFS's immediately after installation, so by a process of elimination I may be able to isolate the culprit, but that makes for so much work that it almost makes me ready to go back exclusively to FS9. If a program like ScanAFD is available, it sure would make the search a lot easier. My Operating system is XP Pro with 4GB of memory. I also implemented the 3GB enabler memory switch/boot.ini edit long ago.If anyone knows of an easier way to do this (like ScanAFD or otherwise), it sure would be appreciated. I thought OOM's were a thing of the past for me, but Oh Wellllllll! Thanks:RTH

Yes, I asked this same identical question about a year ago and then I got the bright idea to hit-up Jon and Jim over in the FSDeveloper.com ADE forum. What they did was take some of the ADE code that scans for all airports prior to editing any of them and make a seperate ScanAFD-like utility. The utility is called Airport Scanner and is currently at version 1.0. I have already provided some feedback which Jon expects to incorporate in the next version. Read the instructions as it is not a button-for-button duplicate of ScanAFD.The support thread for Airport SCanner can be found in the ADE forum here: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13263 with the download link in the first post. Direct download of Airport Scanner v1.0 from here: http://www.scruffyduck.org.uk/files/airport_scanner_100.zipAlso, in the next version of ADE (do for release shortly), there is a new utility called AI Aircraft Editor which if you're into collecting and maintaining AI, will prove to be valuable as well. You can see screenshots and download the beta here: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14448Good luck...

Be advised that the Airport Scanner does not appear to work under Vista 32-bit. I've been in touch with the developer about this problem and they requested a log file from my system. I sent the log file but have not heard back from them. I'm hoping it will be soon as I have a huge number of scenery packages and AFCAD files.fb
