Today I upgraded my video card to a GeForce 9800GTX+ 1GB. I was shocked to find that my frame rates have dropped into the low teens using FS2004. I'm running at a resolution of 1680x1050. I tried reducing the screen resolution (1280x800) but this didn't make any difference. I've tried to tweak things using the NVIDIA Control Panel and NHancer but I can't get framerates above 20 fps. My previous card was a 8400 GS (512 MB). This old card was terrible with clouds but at least the framerates were close to 30 in clear skies. I'm getting 14 fps in clear skies in KSEA with sliders maxed out and a decent amount of AI. Even if I go to another airport with hardly any AI I'm still averaging about 15fps. With clouds or without I'm sub 20fps. The new 9800GTX+ appears to be an improvement with cloud generation but I'm shocked that my FPS have decreased. Can anyone offer any help? I figured I'd be in the 30fps or better range with this card. I'm using the latest 182.50 drivers. Make sure that your new card is listed in your fs9 cfg. If not, delete the line with your old card. Otherwise you might try an uninstall and rreinstall of the drivers.Bob

I tried both of these earlier but neither seemed to do the trick. I've never gotten great performance in FS9 on this Quad Core computer (not sure why). But these framerates just seem crazy.Mark

Hmmmmm....9800GTX, Quad Core. Unless you have some heavy addons, you should sail through FS9 with everything on and maxed. Tell us some more about your setup.Bob

I'm wondering if I possibly am messing up my configuration. I copy and pasted my FS9.cfg to a new sheet, deleted the original and lt FS9 build a new one with the new video card in the list. Then I copied the video card entry that FS9 made with the new FS9.cfg and placed it into the appropriate section. I then replaced the FS9.cfg with this new one...thus retaining my old settings (pre card installation) while adding the new card entry. I appreciate any help as this was a $180 purchase and I figured this would make FS9 smoking fast. Instead I'm getting 18fps at a default field in the middle of Kansas. Did you happen to use a driver cleaner utility(such as Driver Cleaner Pro) to clean out all remnants of the previous driver or just use the control panel to uninstall your old drivers?

I used Driver Sweeper, albeit not in Safe Mode. I couldn't find where I could reboot in Safe Mode. When looking at my system afterward it showed that everything had been uninstalled though.I'm using the latest 182.50 drivers.

Hello,I am quite interested in the solution, because with the 8600GTX card i have the same issue under FSX. I replaced an older card, but right now i have really low fps in clouds, on ground, etc.Thanks,Tibor
