Two questions about Framerate Limiter Utility

Recommended Posts

Hi all,Since a week I have no more the green numbers onscreen when starting up FSX.Any idea ow to fix his ?When using 25 or 30 the framerate stays both between 30-34.To check if the utlity is working fine I tried also without it --> fps 40 +.So therefor I presume it is working.Any suggestion on this ?Java installed.

You are right, the tool does not always show the green fps limit when you start FSXBut one way i can tell its working is, when ever its on, my FSX ATC window is a bit sluggish to move around and size. But i dont use the tool anymore though, cause i get a good performance locking frames at 40 in FSX instead of 30.

You may set FPSlimiter to whatever fps limit you want. You may run it with the limit 40 fps, just edit the bat file and change the switch /f:30 to /f:40.

You can use FRAPS to display the FPS numbers (also lime green). No need to have FRAPS running (recording) just minimized after you choose to display 'overlay' in 'FPS' tab.The fpslimiter is supposed to work with your sim display set to 'UNLIMITED'. But NOT your auto-gen. That still has to be reined in. Plus make texture bandwith multiplier=400 (ie: not 40) and max texture load=1024 (ie: not 512) to get good results. Trilinear instead of AA and mip maps medium (or get shimmering). High end machines getting 40+ without limiter will profit less than 'slower' rigs will. Just the facts. Tweak tweak. Vicious circle. DO NOT SET TBM to 400 in FSX.. FS9, yes, FSX NO!

To make sure I would see the green digits I set the command X to on, but no digits appear in FSX.Any suggestions ?Btw : I also remarked that when using F10-F12 panel parts appear instead of being able to adfjust the framerate.

It does not always work .. There are times when I do not see those numbers for days.I just use the FSX frame counter to verify operation and do not worry about the OSD

As I use a framerate of 25 in de Fs Limiter and the framerate goes between 25-35 it is hard to tell if it is working or not.My FS is very detailed over 2 26"screen so I do not have 40+ framerates. However after having changed the value 3 times I have green digits again.... :(
