Problem with Downloads - zip files opening in browser

Recommended Posts

Guest zillmer99

All,I think I may have solved my original problem, so will give the details. In Firefox, I went to Tools, Options, Downloads, and clicked on View and Edit Actions... I the deleted all actions related to .zip files. Initially no joy, I then did a search for zip in the View and Edit Actions dialog box and found that there was an association for a file extension HTM , with a description of Compressed (zip) file that had an action of open in webpage. Deleting this action solved my problem. So in short, check the Firefox file associations and delete anything associated with either a .zip file extension or a compressed (zip) file type.Gary, I know this is very similar to your solution, but for me the key was deleting the association for the .HTM file type that was described as a compressed file type.RegardsSimon.

If you are using FireFox, it's usually a conflicting "Extension" that you installed. To view these, go to Tools>Extensions.
