I can't take it anymore, I recently purchased an EVGA GTX285 SSC for my FS system and have had nothing but dll errors in both Fs9 and FSX. With Fs9 I can do short flights but anything over 2 hours always ends in a g3d.dll error on approach. With FSX its a little more random, sometimes I can go an hour sometimes 15 minutes and the errors vary from terrain.dll to panels.dll. I've tried all different locations and AC it just always goes wrong!!!!!I've deleted both config files and let them rebuild, I've tried the 182.50 & 181.20 drivers & I've completly reinstalled FSX twice and FS9. I've checked for heat issues haven never broke 55c on the card! the CPU stays around 42c while under load. The one thing that I've noticed is the Nvidia control panel does not work no matter which driver set I've tried. I mean I can't get any AA or AF to stick at all! I can use nhancer to do it but I'm wondering if this is where my problem lies?? System:WinXP64Intel Q9650 ASUS P5Qpro 4GB Corsair DominatorEVGA GTX 285SCC WD 320GB CaviarWD 300GB VelociraptorSilverstone 650W Modular & I tried a Rosewill 850W*latest DX9c, and windows up to date.I'm going crazy here!

Try the 185.68 beta driver release. My GTX295 hated FSX too. This release works great for me.Make sure after un-installing the driver that you run DriverSweeper in Safe Mode, and make sure you choose the correct software to delete.

Are you overclocking you system at all?? and how tight are your memory timings?? .dll errors are usually a sign of an unstable overclock and/or memory issues. Try loosening your memory timings and you may also want to try underclocking your superclocked video card.

I tried the beta drivers and no luck. I will try to bring the Video card down and see if that cures it.

I am currenlty using the 185.85 release and all seems ok.

Run a stress test on your video card and check for artifacts. I recommend using ATi Tool's artifact tester. Don't worry about the name, it works for nvidia cards as well. I just used it to determine my GTX 285 was failing and RMA'd it. Got a new card back a couple weeks later and this one even overclocks nicely :)

What you're describing sounds a lot like a heat problem. It could be something like the Northbridge IC on the mobo overheating, or it could be a heat-related memory issue as well. How's the airflow in the case? Have you tried running with the cover off and a house fan blowing into the interior? What's the temp like in the room...and is the PC away from direct sunlight? If you're overclocking, try pulling back to stock settings. If there's a fan on your NB heatsink, make sure it's unblocked, connected and running. Also make sure your new video card isn't blocking airflow to part of the mobo...a lot of the long cards do get in the way.Run a utility like Memtest and verify that you don't have a memory system problem. If that works OK, run a stress test like OCCT/Prime95 for at least an hour with the cover off the PC.RegardsBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO
