June 22, 200916 yr Hi Simmers So, I have made a first movie (no sound yet) and uploaded it on YouTube. Keep in mind that Game Cam eats 5-7 FPS and the quality is not the best, but I'm working on it. First, here are my Computer-Specs and FSX Settings. The Computer is completely water cooled: Mainboard: Asus Rampage II Extreme (Bios 1406) CPU: Core i7 D0 920 at 4533MHz (have some issues with 4570), 1.42VCore Mem: Mushkin Redline 1600 6-7-6-18 at 1728 6-8-6-18 T1, 1.65V HDD: 300GB 10'000rpm WD VelRap Voltage (BIOS): QPI/VTT 1.45, IOH 1.35, ICH 1.27, Rest lowest manual Settings. GPU: XFX GTX 280 724 Core clock, 2780 Mem clockThis are the FSX Settings: Graphics: Scenery : Traffic: Weather: UT2: The Movie List (more with better quality will follow):Around KJFK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s61mI--X7UAGreetings and enjoy your FSX
June 22, 200916 yr You're right, it is tough to tell from the video, but it looks pretty smooth, Im guesing you have 20-25 fps there? How is the ground textures? Are they staying loaded all the way through the flight? Either way, very impressive, I would get about 10 fps same situation with very blurry ground textures. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
June 22, 200916 yr Author Hi,Yes frames are all around 20-25 in this area without movie capturing. I have a LOD Radius of 6.5000 so the ground is always crisp. Fast memory and HDD are very important for a crisp ground.
June 22, 200916 yr Do you have a link for that Mushkin ram? I really like Mushkin but recently nobody has been recommending it.... They have a solid warranty and make good products. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

June 23, 200916 yr That's impressive alright. Although I do see some stuttering in there. The scenery is crisp and in focus. You might be able to tune out the stutters with reduced road traffic and low 2x water and a couple other things. That's a darn nice clock though.I have the Mushkin Redline Ascent 1600 6-6-5-18 and they're beautiful and support there is great. Just have to avoid a bad batch of chips but I think they got it sorted out by now. Those tight timings make all the difference. Now stop violating FAA regulations! :( -jk
June 23, 200916 yr Looking good! Nice clock too. Regarding Mushkin ram, I used to use it a couple of years ago with good success (in both clocking and in stability). Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
June 23, 200916 yr Author Just the info I was looking for. It's been a while but I've used Mushkin in the past with great success. Have you had issues at all with your memory and the Rampage Extreme II?I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on these along with the same motherboard you are using - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820226061 Hi,The Mushkins runs great on the R2E. Just always use the newest BIOS Version, that's the Key.
June 23, 200916 yr Great overclock, something I really appreciate! ;)But talk over smoothness, to my eye, its choppy. Quick choppy but its there. I think one should try the same approach with one of the heavier addons like PMDG/LVLD.Also call me spoiled, cuz I don't find smooth anything below 40fps, be that FS9 or FSX.
June 23, 200916 yr Author Forgot to mention....Here are the Addons I'm using with FSX: UTX, GEX, FSGenesis, REX, ASA, KJFK from FSDreamTeam, Super 80 Pro, ManhattanX from Aerosoft

And as soon I found out how to make a movie with a software witch will not have this huge impact on the FSX performance I will show you how good FSX runs on my PC.I have the LevelD 767 and PMDG 747 and I will make some movies on the same aproach soon.Kind regards
June 23, 200916 yr But talk over smoothness, to my eye, its choppy. Quick choppy but its there.It could just be the video... one has to consider all the addons being run as well | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

But the fact you mention that its running around 25fps confirms it for me.I have FSX too, and on my system, I see a huge difference in choppiness between 40fps and 25fps in FSX.Granted, 25fps on FSX are better than 25fps on FS9. But they are not better than 40fps in FS9...But since my system can't pull 25fps in every situation under FSX, of course, I am not using it as much. But I did extensive tweaking tests...Anyway, you are right what you say. Even with today's hardware you can't make FSX run as smooth with all those addons. It's gonna take some more time and hardware upgrades until we reach it. I recon another 3 years or so.In my opinion it's really a sad thing today, that even investing into most expensive hardware (meaning around 3000$ or even more on the basic hardware) won't bring you really great performance, as you already confirmed. But nevertheless, FSX shows it has great potential.

And did you need to change them to stabilise the RAM? Or the CPU? Or both?Tim 14900ks, RTX4090, 64Gb@6000-30-36-36-T2, Samsung 990Pro 2Tb , Dell G3223Q 32" 4k Gsync + 27" secondary monitor.
