Russia's newest version of their MIG-29 - the stealth!

Featured Replies

Here is a photo of Russia's newest version of their MIG-29 - the stealth version. Allied forces are unable to visually see it due to all of the smoke and radar can't penetrate it. Why didn't we think of that first???migr.jpg

It has Polish Airforce insignia on the tail. Interesting purchase for a NATO member...

Well... I can see it!Note to Allied forces - Look for a puff of black smoke moving at Mach 2, and there's the target!Even if the smoke could stealth radar, it would only work the plane is flying away from you.My mums knackered car should be GATSO proof then.Only playing, mcbellette, its a cool pic. :(

we did think of it first, they didn't call the F-4 Phantom 'Old Smokey' for nothing LOLActually, on that pic, it could indeed be the fuel it was using; a good many Russian aircraft are designed to be able to use a wide variety of fuels in case of logistical problems, so joking aside, they can put all kinds of fuel in the things as long as they are prepared to accept that it will reduce the life of the engines. Even so, I remember reading an article in AFM years ago when the East Germans put their Mig-29UBs up against some Dutch F-16s. The F-16 guys could spot the MiGs a long way out, but when it got to a turning fight, the HMS the MiG drivers had proved pretty decisive, and they won against the F-16s because they could get a lock a long way off boresight.Al

Look at the description of the picture on a.net. It says Mig-29GT, which means German Trainer. This is one of the Migs that Germany took over from the East German Air Force after the Reunification and later sold to Poland for 1

That reminds me of a saying amongst RAF maintenance crews about the then aging Phantom squadron in Germany - "if a Phantom isn't leaking fluid from somewhere it must be empty!" :( Iain Smith
