MSFS2004 & My Machine?

Im wondering if I have any hope of running the new version on my machine with reasonable performance(20fps)without turning all of the settings to nill. I do very well with 2002 and nice FSD International aircraft and 75% on the sliders. Anyone have thoughts on what I can expect? Im not ready to upgrade my machine just for a flight sim.PIII 800 512mb RamGEForce 4 4400 128mb

Yeah .... it'll run for sure :) I haven't used fs2004, but your specs are not the minimum spec .... you'll be fine :) The frame rates may be affected by the new clouds, but I'm sure you can turn the effects down :)HOWEVER ;-) ... there are a few people on this forum who think that you NEED a P4 3.2 GHz with 500Mb RAM AND a 500Mb GeForce 5 just to get acceptable frame rates!!! Don't listen to them: they told me that my computer couldn't run FS2002 .... you don't hear me complaining :-lol

Any machine running FS2002 well will also provide enough power for FS2004. Only if you really want to take fuill advantage of all new features (notably graphics) in FS2004 you should be advised that you need a graphics card that is capable of running DX8. In reality that means anything from GF3 upwards, and no MX-type cards (which are souped-up GF2's). LOL I agree. I ran FS2002 for a year (yes, 12 months) on a old K6-2 400 with 192MB RAM. Not a very powerful gaming computer, but it teaches you, fps isn't everything LOL. You can still have fun even with your fps not topping 10fps at a given time :) . I didnt replace that K6 for a long while because it was 100% stable. It had ran on the same Win98 (not SE) install since I got XP when it came out.I am not worried at all about my comp and FS2004. I know my Athlon 1.2GHz and Radeon 7200 can handle it. Newer games work great with this computer, I suppose FS2004 wont be any different.

I agree with the above statements that your computer should run it, but we *do not yet know*! Asking this questions is, frankly, useless as we only know the minimum hardware required to run FS2004. We do not yet know if that minimum hardware will provide decent FPS, or what hardware will provide decent FPS.

I am fearing that the aspect of having a P4 3.2GIG and 500MB ram and a 500MB GeForce 5 (LMAO) is true.I hear that some of the shots that looked decent were on a GeForce FX 5900 and a 3Gig P4 800Mhz FSB with all the bells and whistles, although this may not be true.However, as the realease date nears, I still worry if FS2k4 will work on my machine.Edited for spelling.

I do enjoy a nice looking sim for practice and it is fun to play with. Im wondering if there will be any great changes for me in terms of the way that I use the program. Most of the time I will set a solid cloud deck from the approach minimums to FL180 so I dont spend much time looking at anything besides the panel.
