Need Serious Help ... File Spreading like wild fire because of FSDownload.com

Featured Replies

Removed a file (Project Mach 2 with V Speed Readouts) as asked by Pierre FS France Team Member ( contacted me, so emailed the sites straight away which I uploaded to - flightsim.com and flightsimworld.com ... they deleted the files ASAP ) .... yet he has been in contact with me again saying that the file is still available.I searched google to find the file is being stored and downloaded from fsdownload.comYet they have no contact details for me to get the file removed. In the google search results the site has several "cloned" URL addresses yet you can tell it is the same site hosting the file as the layout and everything else is the same. These are the sites hosting the file: 1. http://www.fsdownload.com/modules.php?name...le&sid=1428 2. http://www.onlinegamersplanet.com/modules....le&sid=1428 3. http://www.surclaro.com/download.php?op=vi...title=pm2ps.zip 4. http://fmjunk.com/ 5. http://flightsimulatorxgames.com/ 6. http://playcheatstation.com/ 7. http://www.flightsimmarket.com/ 8. http://adsfreedownloads.com/ 9. http://www.flightsimworldonline.com/ 10. http://www.myfsdownloads.com/ 11. http://www.flightsimulatornews.com/ 12. http://msfsdownload.com/ 13. http://fs2004patch.com/ 14. .... the list goes on but its all linking to fsdownload.comAll 4 + ... and other sites have been posted by fsdownload.com ... linked everywhere. Trying to find a contact for fsdownload.com as it is stored on that site but with multiple URL addresses which is the cause for so many links! It is unbelievable. I never even uploaded it to fsdownload.comI tried creating an account (using a yahoo address rather than my personal one as I didn't trust this site) to find that it still has no contact link.Help is urgently required to not just stop this file spreading further but also get it removed.Thank you for any help on this all as I really don't need this stress at the moment.Pete

Huh? Don't mean to sound dumb but what are we discussing here? Did you have a virus on your system that you uploaded to a bunch of sites? If so or not, maybe you, or anyone else, can explain a bit better what needs to be done, watched out for, indicators, etc.The other day I was visiting the Fruit Stand and Goggle had them tagged as being a suspected attack site. Hope someone chimes in on this one...Mark

As I read the OP's post, he apparently uploaded a file to one or more sites which he perhaps should not have done (did not have permission to distribute the file further) and the original author asked him to get it removed from those site(s).At least that how I interpret the OP's post.

Thanks Opa...OK. Just wanted to make sure that the original post had a bit more clarity to it. Don't want to spread rumors or anything else :)Mark

Hi Thank you for the link sorry for late reply. It is correct. There was a mix up in permission, just a slight mistake. I did get permissions from one source but it was not original. The minute I was contacted I contact both Flightsim.com and Flightsimworld.com where the file was uploaded. 1 week later to this day and I get an email from the author stating that it is spreading to other sites. I didn't even upload it there. I created an account on FS Download.com ... tried to remove the file and it said I wasn't the original author and that FSDownload.com was ... file steeling somehow ... seems highly illegal. I have already reported 10 files on there which should not have been on there. Thanks for you help guys much appreciated. Hopefully this will get the file removed and make me and Pierre M happy men. I have apologised to him deeply for this but I'm honest in that I say I never uploaded it to that other site nor had any knowledge of it's existence till he contacted me.Will keep you updated.PS: There are rumours going around about me but that was one little mistake which I have moved on from because it is the past. I won't say who because it is not of concern to anyone else. I made a mistake and have learnt from it. That's it.

A couple of weeks ago I visited the site and got multiple warnings from my Anti-virus program (Zone Alarm Anti-virus (anti-virus powered by Kaspersky)). I just assumed they were false positives. Just now I visited the main site again and got another warning. Visited it again, two more. Various viruses, trojans, etc... Not sure what's going on, but that would be enough for Google to label the site as suspected attack site.I see they have a contact form, so I'll send them a message and let them know. Although I am hesitant to submit the form for obvious reasons. Looks like they are already aware of some issues...

Mike...

I get that warning page you get so choose not to visit it. Is here anything we can do to have the site taken down?Just that, I have noticed that this site just seems to crawl the web for files, stores them and shares them without a care in the world for copyright which is a HUGE no no !

Just another thought -If you did not upload to FS Download com, then it seems to me that the original author is the one who needs to be in contact with them regarding removal of the file - not you. At Avsim, we try to honor any author's request for removal of a file but only of the request comes from the author. There are some sites which will harvest files from other sites and host them - even against the author's explicit instructions. In the future it is best to not get involved in "distributing" files - if an author wants a file at a particular site, they will upload it there themselves.

Agreed David. However this was my problem ... www.fsfrance.com ... so I got in contact via an old email address which allowed me to however it turned out not to be the original author. I have learnt from this lesson. From now on I will always request permissions. I have done so for many years with other work I have produced without issues. I am certainly one not to distribute copyrighted material without proper channels being acknowledged; i.e. if i make the human mistake I never claim the work is mine which would make things worse. There are situations though where this is not so easy to ascertain, but surely I will do everything to rectify these issues. This is a prime example, I immediately got in contact with the sites I uploaded to (not just the one the author found the file) and requested them to be removed as well as announcing it on my web site (was on index and news pages but is considered old news now).PeterPS: It shouldn't be a problem in the future as I have made a personal decision not to continue my efforts to the community because I want to concentrate my free time I have now on my charity work (Music Album). I may continue to release odd files but nothing major as I just don't have the time no more, plus its time to start a new life anyways; so to speak. As this is in public view as well, I state a big thank you to those who have enjoyed my work and sent me email messages of gratitude of my work (in the hundreds over 4 years). To those who have tried to stop me by sending messages of threats (mainly through here) I want you to know, your a waste of life trying to make peoples life hell by picking on them! You're just jealous and a shame to this community - You know who you are !
