unable to disable dynamic head movement/momentum effect in virtual cockpit

Featured Replies

anyone here had successfully disabled the head movement/momentum effect in the virtual cockpit? i find it troublesome to reset the eyepoint after i kicked in a hard rudder left or right.i edited the fsx.cfg file and changed all values in the [dynamicheadmovement] section to 0 and also [momentum_effect] in cameras.cfg to false, but i still get the movements in the virtual cockpit.would greatly appreciate if somebody could share if they had managed to disable them :)

Something isn't right, because when you change the MomentumEffect = Yes to No in the camera.cfg it should stop. But you also make sure it set to NO in your aircraft.cfg

It's very easily accomplished by changing yes to no for MomentumEffect=. For Vista users, this change must be made in the Cameras.cfg file that is in the Username>AppData>Roaming>Microsoft>FSX folder. If you make it to the copy of the Cameras.cfg file that is in the Microsoft Flight Simulator X folder, it will have no effect.

thanks for the reply.i have set MomentumEffect = No in both camera.cfg files but the movement occurs still. in the aircraft.cfg file i cannot find any camera defintion lines for the virtual cockpit, only for other camera views like the wing views.also, i had noticed that the movement is greater when i'm flying on the pmdg 747 than on default planes like the b737-800. in the pmdg 747, when i bank left for example, the head view will start to sink towards the left and doesn't recover when i level the wings. the movement on the default 737 is much smaller. is this a problem with the pmdg 747?

I can verify that it works for me. The change must be made with notepad while FSX is not running and saved before restarting FSX.

there seems to be 2 lateral (AccelOnHeadLat) parameters in the FSX.cfg "dynamic head movement" section. Why not set these to 0 and see if that does what you want...Loyd

Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro

Thanks for reply, but it was already done before I asked. It has no effect. One more question: Will the head to turn back to initial position, if change values of "SnapPbhReturn=False" & "PanPbhReturn=False" to "True" in Cameras.cfg

No, I wouldn't think so. That is Camera movement and shouldn't have anything to do with 'momentum' of the viewpoint.Loyd

I am having the same problem...I have sone all the above..One question though:I see in md11 aircraft.cfg file under views section that in one place momentum has NO and in another section it has FALSE....is there any difference or FSX thinks that both are OFF settings?

Have you tried to disable G-effects in FSX realism settings?
