Direct linking to AVSIM file library

I thought I posted this question a couple days ago, but either it was deleted? or didn't go through for some reason. Anyway, I'll try again.Just wondering what the policy was for linking to files in AVSIM file library from another website. Is something like this acceptable since it just takes the user to the AVSIM download page with the advertisement?http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=40698Sorry if this is a stupid question, but couldn't find anything about this in FAQs, etc. and don't want to do something that's not allowed.Thanks.Matt Fox

Hello Matt,Direct (Hot) linking is not permitted, ie where the download begins straight from the 3rd Party Website.Hope this helpsCheersStewart

Ok, so in my example. http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=40698Would be ok since it requries the user to log in to the file library and takes the user to an AVSIM web page before the download begins.Thanks StewartMatt

Well Matt,I don't think so, because if you remain logged in then it operates the same as a hotlink.I selected your link and the file immediatly began downloading, if you see what I mean.Leave it with me mate, I will find out exactly what you can and cannot do and then post the result of my enquiries here.Sorry for mucking you about, mind you I used to do that in my PAI days as well if I remember!CheersStewart

Direct linking; i.e., via an FTP link or an HTTP link that goes directly to the file bypassing our logo and AVSIM advert page, is not allowed and in fact our system is designed to prevent exactly that type of connection. However, linking as you have indicated is okay as it does show the user that the file is coming from AVSIM and does not bypass our AVSIM advert.
