July 27, 200916 yr Author will you go ron burgandy on someones butt? This thread smells of rich mahogany. "Even Ozzy's wagging his tail again. Liam who?"
July 27, 200916 yr Something tells me that this thread is going to set a record for post count and longevity. It has already won the originality award. (I'm so tired of "What's your favorite airplane?")It's got a long way to go to beat this guy... http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=125625I almost wish that I had replied to the OP to stake my place in Avsim history. July 27, 200916 yr It's got a long way to go to beat this guy... http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=125625I almost wish that I had replied to the OP to stake my place in Avsim history.Seven years, 200 posts. Not bad. It might be a record for duration but it's a long way from a record post count. The longest Avsim thread I can recall had something like 350+ posts, but in the past I've not been a regular here so it's possible that something beat even that one by a mile without my noticing. Perhaps an old timer here recalls.Tom,I hope you're reading this. Can you tell us the longest duration thread and the largest post count thread? I might not be on the planet in seven years but I surely can help break the post count record in the meantime. After all, everyone needs a goal in life, and to work hard to achieve that goal, if one is to reach one's full human potential.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxi DO wish that I had been the first to reply. I actually had started post#2 but then I backed out of it thinking "I'm going to look really dumb if I reply but nobody else does." So I'm going to declare myself the true first responder even though I have no way of proving this, and even though the written record says otherwise. But perhaps we can agree on this: Anybody who made post #22 or earlier to this thread is to be treated as an important figure in, as you put it, Avsim history ... And anybody who made post #13 or earlier is a true pioneer -- except for ZachLW, who can't stand me and therefore should not be given any credit at all, even though he posted ahead of me.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxBut what I want to know is, Where is Charlie Chew in all this? Charlie, you ingrate, don't you know who your friends are? What are you going to do for us, now that we've saved you from being just another forum name in the virtual dustbin of cyberhistory?
July 27, 200916 yr I can't resist. The results of ten painful minutes of the most difficult creative writing I've ever engaged in. (Subsequent edits for purposes of polishing don't count.) ...It’s Hangar Chat that we are under. No man here may put asunderBonds that bind us. You will seeHow great is our humanity.Of Charlie Chew fun things are said.Nor mod nor admin lock this threadWe beg of you. Yes, there must beGround rules. Let’s start: ProfanityAnd politics are out, you see,And sex, religion, insults tooAre not allowed. They are taboo. So please do nothing unthinkingThat might result in thread locking. And to be fair you must not dareTo give new life to old threads whereThey rest in peace in cyberspace,Unless you want us in your face.
July 27, 200916 yr If you want to go for a thread record, both in replies and longevity, simply start a thread that says something along these lines...'I think Ariane is way better than PMDG and Level D, and extremely fine value for money, with a flawless product activation policy that makes Flight 1's wrapper system archaic and clunky by comparison, and anyone who disagrees is extremely poorly-endowed in the trouser department' You could also try signing it: sincerely, A. HitlerI'd also recommend retiring to a safe distance, probably somewhere out past Mars would be about right. :( Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

Or have the Nth discussion about piracy.

July 27, 200916 yr Ooh, those are good ones too. I suspect the Airbus versus Boeing debate could be a useful one in there as well. With some effort, we can come up with the ultimate thread to outrage people, thus forcing them into replying in righteous indignation, and then the longevity record will be assured for Charlie Chew. No handle replacement required. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
