(unrelated) Annoying popups

Just a word to the wise, every time you completely restart the computer (either restart or shutdown->turn on), messenger automatically restarts itself. What I do is keep the system manager icon shortcut in my personal folder so that whenever I restart I may quickly access the program and turn messenger off again.

You could try WebTools at http://www.microgarden.com . It is an add-in for Internet Explorer that adds tabbed browsing and popup window management. Excellent tool.

Joe:I assume you are talking about "Instant Messenger (IM)"....the "Messenger" I was describing above is a service, not at all related to "Instant Messenger". If you disable the "Messenger" service as I have described above, it will never be re-enabled unless you do so manually. Don't get the two confused!Thanks,PatrickCary,NC

Some people have made some good suggestions on dealing w/ pop-ups in IE. I simply suggest that you try the browser Mozilla. It has built in pop-up control and a ton of features IE doesn't.Best of all is that it is an open source FREEWARE program!!! I could quite possibly be mistaken, I am thinking about the messenger service that pops up, usually with an ad like "ARE YOU SICK OF THESE ANNOYING POPUP ADS? WELL COME TO OUR WEBSITE AND YOU CAN GET RID OF THEM!!!" Under the systems window, it's just listed as "messenger" and then when you highlight it you can click "stop the service"...perhaps I am mistaken. :
