July 30, 200916 yr That's why I tell people if possible not to use Vista with FS9 (XP works with everything you can throw at FS2004)...lol, OK. If you say so. This little app/hack is about the only thing I have had an issue with since starting with Vista more than a year ago but if it helps to validate your position re Vista, more power to you. :) Really, I haven't spent much energy on trying to get it working either so I'd imagine its not much more than needing to download a dll or something from MS......and I do seem to recall having some issues with a few apps under XP as well over the years. :D
July 30, 200916 yr Thanks...What's the difference between the two (Intense and Natural)??? I was actually about to buy the intense version. Natural pack has more natural looking clouds. You can see them in topic i've posted. Intense pack are bit, lets say artificial looking one. There is no other differences. All other files are the same. My Specification: I CAN RUN FSX IN MAX SETTINGS....i don't care about dell, bell, amd, intel, 60000 wats power supply or alien made graphic card....

I'm sorry Vista is the greatest OS one could buy. It's way better than XP and everyone should switch over to it if they want to truly get the most out of their machine... July 30, 200916 yr O.K. I'm sorry Vista is the greatest OS one could buy. It's way better than XP and everyone should switch over to it if they want to truly get the most out of their machine...Oh, sorry if I offended you. I don't particularly care if you or anyone else switches over to Vista (in fact, I wouldn't recommend anyone with a working XP install should do so at all). Vista came with my PC, I spent a week figuring out the ins and outs, and its been virtually flawless and every bit as stable as XP since then. Sorry if that bugs you. I also spent a week or two figuring out XP's ins and outs when I first got it. I always spend time optimizing the OS and Vista was no different than any previous one I've used. The Vista hatred is unwarranted - at least since the service packs came out. But maybe yr right - not being able to get this bloom .dll hack working is a certain indictment of the OS as a whole I suppose...
July 30, 200916 yr A word of warning, if you get the FS Elemental clouds(Which are beautiful) the files are 5 mb each and then use really dense cloud settings via Active sky your system will slow down, mine did(specs in sig). I had to DXT3 the textures(all excepts Cumulus1) to make them more palateable for my system. But if you do all that you'll have dense, beautiful cloudsALso get the environment map that FengZ recommends by Bananabob (I got it from Sim Outhouse, but they have been having problems lately), and apply it to your texture folder(you have to apply it last, all these other texture replacement programs put in their own environment map). It really sharpens up the edges of the plane and gives that defined look that makes FengZ's pictures stand out. With the right plane over the right scenery and the right enhancements FS9 looks and runs amazing, so good luck.
July 31, 200916 yr Here's something I found:http://vusaf.org/forum/showthread.php?t=8970The settings I'm still trying to work out because during the day it's too much. When looking down at the instruments things tend to go dark. I'm testing at Emma with the FSD Seneca. Here's setting I'm playing around with.[bLOOM]BloomPowerDay=12BloomFadeTime=2000BloomConstantDay=1BloomQuality=0BloomScreenLevelDay=15BloomCurveDay=0BloomPowerNight=24BloomConstantNight=5BloomCurveNight=0BloomScreenLevelNight=10BloomAdaptationScreenLevel=80BloomAdaptationMultiplier=10BloomAllowOversaturation=0'BloomScreenLevelDay=15' seems to work better during the day cutting down on the glare on the wings but like I said I can't get that darkening to stop when looking down at the instruments in the cockpit.Very nice and thank

If Vista is working for you great and those that use XP that's fine as well. I've heard so much concerning Vista that I'm glade I was able to steer clear of it. I heard the various patches resolved allot of problems... :( FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR

July 31, 200916 yr OK, here's my chance to get some technical support for a change. Where do the FE cloud textures get placed if you have ASG doing an auto-submit based on real world weather conditions? I mean, doesn't AS/ASG generate the textures and then send them to the FS9 texture folder on the fly based on your local WX station? Mark

Where do the FE cloud textures get placed if you have ASG doing an auto-submit based on real world weather conditions? I mean, doesn't AS/ASG generate the textures and then send them to the FS9 texture folder on the fly based on your local WX station? MarkEach big cloud is not a single texture but a cluster of textures displayed together. The cloud files are in your "texture" folder, AS and FS weather engines use a group of textures Culumus1.bmp, LowOvercast.bmp etc as sources to display in certain ways to make the clouds you see in the sky, it will take these source files, mix and remix them, and display the content to make the cloud scape. It's actually easy to find them open your FS9/Texture folder and put the files in order of size starting with largest and going down and you'll see a goup of larger files with cloud names that represent these source textures.Back them up(back up the whole folder somewhere) and edit them at will.
July 31, 200916 yr does that bloom program affect FPS? I know I've tried a similar program for grand theft auto SA and it really brought my computer down to its knees. Also, can you go over the environment map??
