August 16, 200916 yr Hi,My i7 is failing OCCT CPU 1hr test after just two minutes. It's going above 80c and the test stops.VCore voltage is set to the lowest 1.32vRunning Thermalright Ultra 120-Extreme fani7 clocked to 3.8GHz BLCK set to 190Memory at 7-7-7-24 speedsFSX seems to be running stable (no add-ons) but I'm concerned about the temps. Should I be worried? Thanks! Jacek G. Ryzen 5800X3D | Asus RTX4090 OC | 64gb DDR4 3600 | Asus ROG Strix X570E | HX1000w | Fractal Design Torrent RGB | AOC AGON 49' Curved QHD |
August 16, 200916 yr Temps are too high. Apps can seemingly be stable while stress tests are not, but the system is definitely unstable. The 920 is not guaranteed to hit 4GHz, especially not on air. You may need to add another fan to your TRUE or adjust voltages further to achieve stability.
August 16, 200916 yr Author Can I set lower voltage on Vcore than 1.32 at this clock speed? I don't really care if I'll go up to 4.0GHz, I'm ok at 3.8 I just want to make sure those temps are brought down. Jacek G. August 16, 200916 yr Author T You may need to add another fan to your TRUE .You're probably right, I've opened the case up and it brought down the temps by about 10c during OCCT. I'll see if it'll last a whole hour. Thanks for the advise. :) Jacek G. August 16, 200916 yr Author Max, thanks for your help. It passed the OCCT with the case open. :) Jacek G. Ryzen 5800X3D | Asus RTX4090 OC | 64gb DDR4 3600 | Asus ROG Strix X570E | HX1000w | Fractal Design Torrent RGB | AOC AGON 49' Curved QHD |
August 17, 200916 yr You should invest in a new case or re-look at your airflow in the case. Ideally you want air to enter, hit the CPU heat exchanger, do it's job and leave.Leaving the case open is never a good idea long term. Apart from the fact you'll have static air doing nothing. You'll also get dust building up which will cause temp increases back to what you had before. A good case with dust filters in front of the intake fans works the best to deliver clean, cool air and then big exhaust fans to get rid of the used air. You never mentioned if this was with the newer d0 core or not. For reference, with the Antec 900 case located in a warm closet, it passes OCCT at about 77 *c. I would think if you have a enough air-flow, that 3.8GHz would be obtainable at 1.25v as well; unless you have air-flow issues in the case. Regards, Al Jordan | KCAE
