I give up

Recommended Posts

I have tried and tried to download files from the library. I have tried every time of day and still no luck. I keep getting the "page cannot be displayed" message. My firewall is set properly etc. Any ideas?Bob

I need atleast 3 refresh actions till I can download something with a speed of less then 10KB/sec. I'm getting tired of this and switching over to that other site, where I still get 18Kb/sec, atleast there I can connect in 1 click.Oh well, hope this will resolved soon as avsim.com has still the best files.Greetings!.http://home.kabelfoon.nl/~alfons/alfons/Forum-Banner.jpg

We have over 400,000 users successfully downloading from AVSIM daily. There is nothing for us to resolve. The issue resides on your computer / setup. Read all the FAQ's and help files in this forum and check your system against all that is posted. The issue lies with your setup!

I'm not so sure Tom.I too had issues this morning - perhaps there's an exceptionaly high demand for the outstanding ISD scenery. All I can tell is that it took numerous attempts to download, and the rate was very slow.//Michael

Tom,I have been a registered, successful user for years now at AVSIM and at the moment, I cannot reach the file library either. I use IE and Firefox and have them both set up according to the FAQs, but the library is down, unless there is a DNS issue. I was in earlier looking around, so this seems to have taken place within the last couple of hours. I just had another friend in Chicago try it and he cannot reach it either. Thanks ChuckC-130E/H/H1 Flight EngineerDyess AFB, TXAMD 64 3700+ASUS A8V Deluxe 1.0 gig DDR400 Corsair TwinX 3200XLC2ProWD 120 gig HDDWD 80 gig HDDTwin WD 160 gig SATA HDDsSB Audigy 2ATI Radeon X850 Pro 256CH Products USB Yoke, Pedals, Throttle QuadBelkin Nostromo n52Windows XP Pro SP2

Yes, when there are popular downloads that are being downloaded by the thousands at any given moment, the system will slow down. That's inevitable, and the only way we could over come that is to charge for "privelaged" access to give some a faster feed, while those not "so privelaged" would have to suffer from much slower download speeds. We choose not to do that. Everyone gets an equal share of our bandwidth. The result is that when a popular download is being "hit" by the community, everyone gets an equally slow speed of download. But, it is NOT a problem with the library; its a problem of the size of our "pipe".

Chuck, see my post above. It has to do with what's being downloaded at the moment in the library. A very popular scenery file was released today, and that is having an impact. The library is running fine. Just slow.

It appears the server has gone "south". We are attempting to get it rebooted now. Give us an hour or two and hopefully, the system will be back online.

See my post below. You were right. The server has tripped offline for some reason. We're working on it.

No sweat Tom! I downloaded said "popular file of the day" earlier and noticed the evident slowness. I figured it was due to that scenery release. Also when the servers went down, I figured that the file frenzy caused that as well. Thanks for all that you and the AVSIM staff do, you guys are the Best!ChuckC-130E/H/H1 Flight EngineerDyess AFB, TXAMD 64 3700+ASUS A8V Deluxe 1.0 gig DDR400 Corsair TwinX 3200XLC2ProWD 120 gig HDDWD 80 gig HDDTwin WD 160 gig SATA HDDsSB Audigy 2ATI Radeon X850 Pro 256CH Products USB Yoke, Pedals, Throttle QuadBelkin Nostromo n52Windows XP Pro SP2
