Hi Damien,I have directX 9.0b (=latest version) installed with FS2002.I have just te same results as before with DX8, no change.FS2002 doesn't "need" directX 9b but it does no harm neither. FS2004 will support graphic cards that support DX9b, but it will also run with DX8.Look at: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/forums/showthr...=&threadid=6586I've read in an article at: http://firingsquad.gamers.com/hardware/ that my graphic card runs best with DX9b and Catalyst driver 3.2 (version 3.4 gives lockups with the FMC of the Dreamfleet B737)For the other sims i don't know.BigbearPentium 4 2.66 GHZ MOTHERBOARD: ASUS P4PE 512 MB DDR 333 Ram (PC 2700) HERCULES 3D PROPHET 9700 (=standard RADEON 9700) Catalyst 3.2 driverWESTERN DIGITAL WD 800 JB (80 GB) Soundblaster Audigy Player WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL

Damien - None of the present programs use any DX9 functionality. You will see absolutely no difference between DX8.1 and DX9a. (But, on the other hand, it won't hurt anything either). Bottomline - it doesn't matter one way or the other, for now, which version you have.Doug

I tried DX9 but definitely had a frame rate hit. The new Valmet, I know this is in dispute, was hardly flyable but is fine with DX8. I'm talking about a reduction from 22fps with all sliders to the right at KJFK with clouds to about 15 or 16 with the Dreamfleet Cardinal, not very realistic I know, just testing.
