August 23, 200916 yr When I fire up the Garmin 530 that is included with Flight One's Piper Meridian the start up page following the self-test page says the cycle is 0208 which is obviously way out of date! Can the 530 database be updated to the latest cycle? If so, how? Also, can the topics listed on the AUX page's three subpages (Flight Planning, Utility, and Setup), be accessed? Again, if so, how (or was the AUX page included just to torment users)?Scott
August 23, 200916 yr I haven't seen a way to update that database, there maybe however. You should try the Flight1 forums. Those guys know everything there is about that aircraft and will totally help you out. Just a note, I was pretty shocked too when I found out that you cannot use a flight planning tool. All in all, that still is a pretty good GPS if you can live without the flight planning stuff. It's got that neat map with labeled landmarks...Mark
August 24, 200916 yr Author I haven't seen a way to update that database, there maybe however. You should try the Flight1 forums. Those guys know everything there is about that aircraft and will totally help you out.I went over to the Flight1 forums right after posting here just to cover all bases and got a couple of replies already but haven't seen them yet. Hopefully they'll have some answers (or at least a workaround of some sort)! Just a note, I was pretty shocked too when I found out that you cannot use a flight planning tool. All in all, that still is a pretty good GPS if you can live without the flight planning stuff. It's got that neat map with labeled landmarks...Oh, I quite agree, Flgiht1's Meridian apprears to be a fantastic airplane (haven't actually tried to fly it yet! I guess I'm just guilty of winning because to fly the Meridian it looks like I'm going to have to do it the old fashioned way (i.e., manually) instead of flying via fmc or FSNAVigator (G)!I did download the pdf version of the pilot's manual for the GNS 530 (which appears to be as long as the Flight1 manual for the Meridian) so maybe that will help....Scott
August 24, 200916 yr One more note on this. You can and should use both mouse buttons when tunning the GPS and creating flight plans. For the longest time I didn't realize that you could use the left button to scroll downwards and the right button to scroll up a list!Mark
