Just tried CS 767 with UT2 traffic on i7920 @ 3.7Ghz

I also have no clue how to mipmap planes that imo should have been already mipmapped by the developer.

What "traffic injection bug" are you speaking about?UT2 runs smoothly and flawless for most of the users.Just make a search and you'll see that almost everyone here enjoy this addon.
How many is 'most'?
It truly is no wonder people pirate this stuff so much. I wouldn't have bought half the addons I did in the past few months if there was a try before you buy. Some of them even got high marks in reviews from avsim which makes me doubt the objectivity of the reviewers in some instances.
1) About piracy:If I understand you well, one shouldn't pay when he doesn't like a movie or doesn't enjoy a meal in a restaurant. That's a strange point of view.Forums are here to help knowing which addon to buy and which one to avoid, exactly like critics about movies or restaurant. If you don't read them before purchasing an addon, you can't come and complain.2) About Avsim's reviewers:Once and for all, reviewers aren't paid, they receive no gratification, they write what they want without any kind of censorship or influence. If you contest their objectivity you are warmly welcome to join the team and write your reviews for the community.

One shouldn't pay for a meal where the meat was rotten or pay for a movie where the projector broke halfway through the flick. That is a more apt comparison. Many of these addons are buggy, incomplete or made with no attention to detail by vendors that ought to know better just to get a quick buck from the consumer. I find it hard to believe your point of view on the matter. I don't want this to devolve but needless to say I am unhappy with some of the addons I have purchased lately and will be limiting myself to F1 addons in the future since their return policy is unmatched and their support is excellent even if their products aren't always the best. Some of the reviews I have read here at avsim and on some other sites have proven to be, shall we say, suspect. I happen to like UT2 for the most part which is why I kept it. I think it has a lot of potential once they iron out the bugs. It's just the QC issues with it that frustrate me. Things that should have never made it to gold code did. Coming from someone who tests and documents products for a living I have no patience for things like that.

Believe what you like. Of course, adding AI will slow the sim down but I see no difference between 10% and 70% performance wise with UT2, I was also surprised. My PC is tuned (FSGS) and I have taught myself just about enough over the last year, so that I can repair my add-ons and look after FSX.Maybe that is the difference between our set-ups, who knows. There are so many things that can affect performance in FSX... Badly made add-ons is one of them. This can have you pulling your hair out in frustration, wondering what's going on, trying this tweak and that tweak to get things running smoothly... Throwing even more money at FSX and buying hardware upgrades to get that 'smooth' flight you've always wanted. After listening to the interview with Mathijs Kok from Aerosoft over at FSBreak.net, I highly doubt that upgrading to a GTX285 will solve anything for me...Sometimes I experience completely smooth flight and I think ' this is exactly what I always wanted', then all of a sudden the sim stutters or ground textures pop into focus and the illusion is broken.I have tried everything to get completely smooth flight and I don't think it's possible with my set-up. Again, this depends a lot on which add-ons are being used, where you are flying etc...I have a lot of add-ons and as a result my performance is not comparable to someone with no add-ons. I discovered this week, for example, that deactivating waves in the UTX Setup tool causes massive performance problems on my set-up due to the cpu being overwhelmed with errors. I have repaired this error but just think how many people out there don't know about this, have waves switched off in UTX and wonder why they are only getting 15fps over a lake with no scenery or autogen around them...I completely agree with you that it is not the end user's job to 'repair' a 'final' product that they purchase.FTX completely messed up my scenery.cfg and gave me gabled roofs, REX deleted my exe.xml and the weather doesn't work properly, the first release of FSWC deleted the FSX folder when you uninstalled it, RealityXP GPS 530 WAAS is incorrectly linked in the registry... the list goes on...I love these add-ons and they totally bring my sim to life but it would be great if things worked properly from the start.I am not having a go at the developers, I develop myself and we all make mistakes but my standards are very high and if I pay for something, I expect it to work. You don't buy a car and then have to update it and patch it so that it runs, so why should I have to do this in FSX...An unfair comparison perhaps but you get the idea...There are unfortunately very few high quality and well made add-ons for FSX that I know of.Non mipmapped liveries look rubbish and for someone who spends the time making a livery, I cannot understand at all why they don't spend 5 minutes more adding mipmaps so that the repaint looks the best it possibly can.I find this totally incompetent and lazy. If you're going to do something, then do it right at least.Luckily there are a few excellent developers out there, LotusSim, RealAir and FSAddon for example, who deliver products that work, look great and require no extra work. You can buy it and then fly it and that's a real pleasure.Enough, I have some mipmaps to get on with :)Good luck,Toby

I want some of what you're on. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read. No performance hit with 70% AI turned on compared to no traffic at all is what you're saying right?

Disabled UT2 and back to my custom build of AI and have more traffic and better FPS of 3 frames :-)So waiting for a decent patch but till then it will be disabled... :(

Toby: maybe you can give me a crash course on how to mipmap my ut2 planes? I would be much happier if I didn't have those shimmering messes to stare at when I am higher than 200 feet! I would also like to give aerosoft's manhattan buildings a good mipmapping if it works the same way as the planes.

Yeh am back to trafficX as well, i have had enough of the 1fps jolts in the sky.I have asked Ut2 when they will patch they refuse to say when.Getting same fps with Trafficx and uT2 though, but no more ut2 traffic injection pauses. As for avsim admin, am not sure if they on customer's side or addon developers side. Cuase any negative comments about any products result in either abuse from avsim staff (i.e. David Roch the avsim head master), or the post gets locked or deleted. We have been getting a lot stinking badly developed addons for fsx latlely.REX2 caused a full FSX reinstall for me, and am back to rex1.UT2 always curropts my dll.xml , not to mention the stutters from traffic injection.cs767 for all its descent graphics, seems to have a bug that makes it the lowest frame rate plane ever in history of FSX. Even with its cabin view switched off.As for David Roch, he tends to either get in my way or abuse me when i comment on fsx products, based on what i find on my PC.No such thing as free speech on Avsim, but the admin reserve the right to abuse you and kick you anytime they wish.If you go around spreading hype about what new products to buy, they like that, but if you should start giving folks a reality check on what to avoid, avsim staff start calling you names and deleting your posts. But I am sure they a totally neutral in the addon developer / fsx user scenario. But that is not what thier behaviour would suggest.I have had it with crapy addons that not only dont perform well, but also leave you having to totally reinstall FSX.

As for David I have to disagree he is just a great guy and always willing to help as the other great people at AVSIM doing it as volunteers. As for add-ons I can understand your feelings but FSX is per simmer and PC so different (for example for REX2 I don't have a problem at all)...In general all developers try to make the best software they can however they are humans too and sometimesyou need to give them the chance to repair the error(s) made or unexpected behavior on some hardware or software combinations.I see it more balanced and as long they are willing to improve or correct software they have my support.Just a different view of things have fun,Cheers,Andr

This is ridiculous at best. The AVSIM staff does not take sides, but rather enforces the AVSIM forums terms of use and does it's best to promote a welcoming environment for simmers of all ages, races, nationalities, etc. Foul language and promotion of piracy is unacceptable. Since you clearly have no idea of what must take place behind the scenes to keep this forum running smoothly, you are not in a suitable place to judge David or anyone else. There has been no "abuse" other than your abuse of the forums, which will not be tolerated. You can remain civilized or take your opinions elsewhere.

Since you say foul language will not be tollorated, its is not me who has used foul language.Read all of my posts, i mean every single one, you will not find a single word of abuse of the kind used against me by avsim admin, in the name of David Roch calling me STUPID.Seems to me all, and i mean all of what you have said above, you need to tell not me, but your David Roch.I appreciate the efforts of all those civilised people who work hard to keep avsim going, cuase there are many like me who would still pay to use avsim if it wasnt free anymore. But as long as all you avsim staff refuse to condem the totally unprovoked abusive bullying behaviour of David Roch, you will forever be accused of having double standards and otther motives. And i am always in a suitable place to judge when someone abuses me, when i have done nothing at all to provoke such a behaviour from the person. As long as you refuse to totally condem the actions of david roch, you are saying avsim staff reserve the right to abuse users of the forum if they make negative comments about any fsx addons. You guys are setting a new low standard for this forum by sanctioning david's unprovoked abusive behaviour. And For your information David Roch, I am JaskanFactor

No I will not condemn the actions of a volunteer moderator who has done an exceptional job maintaining these forums in a civilized manner. Your comment regarding piracy was unecessary and uncalled for regardless of your view on developers and there products. Now this thread can get back to the topic at hand, which I seem to recall had something to do with the CS767 and UT traffic.

Yes.And using this ID you've been already banned from here and from 3 other commercial FS forums for your provocative and childish behavior. And you are also the clever and well educated guy who just sent me this PM using the same IP location: "Dear Mr Roch, maybe you've gotten used to getting your mouth shut in your country whenever you spoke against a certain product/organization/whatever, but this is AMERICA... you need to abid by certain rules... being the FREEDOM OF SPEECH one of them.I couldn't care less if you were a stinking pilot for the IAF or in EL-AL or whatever... i find you obnoxious and rude.I swear if you continue silencing people and deleting their opinions....you should follow this sentence : I will die letting you convey your opinion even if disagree with it..This is the nature of democracy.. now i know in israel or whatever shithole you live in you dont follow this simple guideline but in this forum you will !" Folks here will judge whether banning you from Avsim is or not the right decision.BTW I didn't call this guy "stupid".You can find my comment about piracy here:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=258886
