Hello, Well I've decided to upgrade to fsx a couple of days ago and I bought the pmdg 747-400x. Although I'm having some problems which I didn't have with my fs9 version. The first problem i'm having is I am unable to save key commands which have been assigned using the pmdg menu. The second problem I'm having is I am unable to get to TO/GA switch to work even when assigning a key to the command or using the switch on the throttles in the VC, during T/O. Another problem i'm having is saving panel states, whenever I try to save a panel state an error pops up saying unable to create file. Also if anybody out there is using aerosofts flight sim commander 8 i would really appreciate it if you would let me know how to upload flightplans from flight sim commander 8 directly to the FMC, I keep getting a database not available msg when trying to upload saved flight plans. Any help would be appreciated. I'm gonna try to re-install to see if that helps at all. I'm running FSX acceleration. Thank you, Dennis

You don't mention your OS, but it sounds as if (i) you use Vista or Windows 7 and (ii) you installed FSX to the default location or some other directory underneath the "Program Files (x86)" directory. User account control prevents applications from writing data in those locations, even with Administrator rights. If this is the problem then the solutions are (i) turn off user account control ("UAC"): not advisable as this is one of the main reasons for using Vista or Windows 7; (ii) try starting FSX with Administrator rights - though this probably won't solve all your symptoms for the reason mentioned above; or (iii) reinstall to a new directory immediately on the root of one of your hard drives (ie, not a sub-directory of anything created by Vista or Windows).Tim

I think you can assign admin rights to directory and subdirectory through the properties for that folder.

Dennis,Prior to reinstalling, per the above notes I suggest you try making the security-related changes. But per my experience on Vista, I would not turn-off UAC but rather run FSX and all add-ons with Administrator privileges (1. Right-clicking on the executable name or icon, 2. Properties, 3.Compatibility tab, 4. Check "Run this program as an administrator" in the Privilege Level section of the tab). I had done this right after I had experienced strange phenomena after installing the PMDG-400X and never had a problem after that and never turned-off UAC. I also suggest when you install ANYTHING related to FSX or FSX itself that you always run the installation with Administrator privileges (1. Right click on the install .exe, 2. Left click "Run as Administrator).Zach
