Assuming you're running Windows XP, look in the Control Panel under Sounds and Audio Devices, then under Hardware. You should find the audio codecs there. Feel free to use Windows' own troubleshooting system to help you.Rick

Look in the tips section (at the top of this forum), search for LOST ATC, NO ATC, etc.

Thanks a lot, that's what i did;and i found a very good explaination from you!it was about codecs that i can find in the device manager;so i did what you wrote, and it sounds like i don't have these codecsi only have SONY ATRAC 3 CODECSWINDOWS MEDIA AUDIOFRAUNHOFER IIS MPEG LAYER 3 AUDIOthat's all; so you're saying that if i don't have those needed, i have to reinstall them; i have WINDOWS XP, but i don't know how to install them....don't know what a repair/reinstall is exactly, and don't know where to do it..see the attached pictureby the way thank you very much for your help,i'm glad i found someone who can help me with this thing!Paolo

You insert your WinXP CD into the CD-drive and follow the directions for a repair/reinstall. You can try going to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs menu, select add/remove Windows Components, and see if the Multimedia selections are available.
