Gauge file simple question

Recommended Posts

Guest txracer16

This is porobably a stupid question and I have not noticed any issues yet, but should the gauge folder have any zip files or do they need to be extracted to work? Thanks for the help.

.zip files are completely OK to have in your Gauge folder and you can have problems if you unzip them.Actually they are .cab files but Winzip recognizes them.Robert

Thanks for the help. Was not shure if FSX would open them as they show up with zip icon and names them as zip files instead of cab files.

1. Winzip can read and extract .cab file, but cannot create them (there's a free MS tool cabdir.exe for that).2. XML gauge files with extention .zip in the gauges folder are NOT recognised by FSX.If the .zip file in the gauges folder actually IS an XML gauge file, you can also get it to work (besides re-packing it with cabdir.exe) by extracting the contents of the .zip file in a sub-folder of the \Gauges folder with the same foldername as the filename.Rob
