FSX Pop-up Gauges and Shift+ Num not operational?

Does anyone have any idea why pop-up gauges and the shift+ num does not function? Since this is the case with all aircraft in VC, I'm thinking it may be due to a specific option setting. FS9 works fine in VC. Specs: I7 940 3.8 OC; custom built. 6 GB RAMNvidia 285 GTX 1 GB.Les Parson
