Ramp Manager

Recommended Posts

Doug, Turning off DX10 isn't bad at all. In fact, leaving it on *could* result in the potential runway and taxiway glitch where the textures seem to overlap each other and flash uncontrollably. If you ask me, DX10 is nothing more than a gimick and what Microsoft publicized it to look like in the sim isn't the reality. It just gives you the extra shadows in the cockpit and perhaps makes the water shinier but it's simply an FPS eater... And, if it was giving me issues with instrument displays, I would turn it off immediatly.
Of course, but some of the shadws and things are really cool. I was landing the 744 yesterday morning at EGLL at dawn and was chasing my own shadow along the ground. Very cool.

You get aircraft shadows in DX9 too. The only things you gain from DX10 are cockpit self shadowing where the geometry in the VC can cast shadows and "improved" water effects. I honestly think both of these things look pretty silly the way they're implemented and you take a massive performance hit to get them too. I suggest leaving the sim in DX9.
