JS41 FMS Bearing/Distance waypoint FMS format?

Featured Replies

Well, I'll be honest that I haven't been through all 700+ pages of the manual. However, I have been through the FMS sections very carefully. There is a reference to how bearing/distance waypoints will be displayed (i.e., identefier followed by *). However, I can't find the format to enter them. What I want to do is enter a waypoint that references off a VOR, for instance, 45 NM from AVE on the 100 degree radial (I know this would be a meaningless waypoint, this is just an example). Anyone figure this out yet? It would be most helpful, particularly for programing VOR/DME approaches.Eric

Eric, no joy.The FMS is only recognizing fixes in the database, and only straight fix to fix segments. This model was not type approved for approaches or GPS navigation, by the way.

Eric,Enter the FPL page and then select a position where you key-in the fix ICAO name followed by a star symbol E.g. KRO*This will take you to another page where you enter bearing (dont forget the decimal) and distance (dont forget the decimal) in respective line selected positions. If you want to overfly this new PBD fix then select the OVERFLY line (note from the right hand side) and press BACK for YES or NO. ENTER, ENTER done ! If there are multiple fixes with same name then next page until you reach the fix intended.Vangelis

Ah, now I get it. Guess the manual wasn't telling me that a bearing/distance fix would be displayed with an *, but that I needed to do that to get to the next screen. Wasn't clear when I read it, but makes sense now. Thanks.Eric
