Warning -- credit card fraud scam...

Recommended Posts

Since many of us purchase FS add-ons, I hope that Avsim grants me leeway and allows this post to stick. I would be more than happy to forward to them the email which I reference in this scam, and I would not be bothered if this warning is posted on their homepage, as it is a concern for all simmers who purchase payware or anything online.Twice in the past two weeks, I have received a bogus message, purportedly from "Paypal" (an entity I've never done business with), trying to solicit my credit card number and PIN. Please simmers--never give out such information, no matter how official it looks. This email looks quite official, and hints that you'll be purged from their database and lose pending transactions if you don't respond, but the author probably didn't count on the fact that I'd pull up the headers and do a tracert on the originating IP, which came not from Paypal, but from a Compuserve server offshore. Probably still bogus, but the point is, the message didn't come from Paypal. In the remote chance it did, I still wouldn't have shared such information.I know most don't need to hear this, but this seems an organized effort to dupe the foolish. Add to that the email address I received this message on is used for but one purpose--supporting my MSFS freeware applications.Regards,John
