SwivHere is a well known field in the Scilly isles off the UK. It is only just over 500 metres long goes up hill for half its length then downhill for the other half. the Airfield is St Mary. You come in over the sea straight at a cliff face and onto the runway:-)Peter http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/17297.jpghttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/17298.jpghttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/17299.jpg

Must be a glitch in the scenery, because FSNavigator doesn't "see" any runway at all. And when you look in the map view for WIKK, it says the runway is asphalt.Idem dito at WIPP, which has a tower (ATC) and an ILS, but also no visible tower or runway (rwy should be asphalt according to the map view).Jozef http://www.dse.nl/~joker32/pictures/signature.jpg

Hi Peter,The cliff face certainly looks unforgiving ;-)BTW, how is an uphill landing in a powered plane? Once you learn how to do it, I found that an uphill landing in a hang glider actually is a lot easier than a normal landing. Just somewhat more intimidating and you do not want to be too late to flare.Best regards,Henri

HenriI am a big fan of powered approaches and a big downer of glide approaches. With a powered approach you come in on a fairly flat profile powering down to the landing spot. You need to flare slightly more to take the slope into account and then its up hill all the way which makes for a quick deceleration.Be nice if MSFS modelled these slopesPeter

Hi Peter,In a hang glider I only have the choice of gliding approaches. The uphill landing is so nice, since it allows very accurate landings with little ground effect. You just have to make sure you flare in time, otherwise you make a big dent in the hill ;-) Thanks again for showing your incredible pictures. I always enjoy them very much.Best regards,Henrihttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

If you think that is crazy, check out Table Rock, Oregon (Ogo6) in FS2002. I did a takeoff by going in a spiral, but never tried to land there.
