Flight problems with some models

Recommended Posts

Guest

I have downloaded numerous (for me) models of FS2002 aircraft and have enjoyed the labors of many brighter minds than my own. Still, I have a few models that are completely unflyable. What I'm experiencing is that after takeoff, the aircraft will pitch up almost vertically. Usually after the plane has reached its max speed or nearing cruise speed. Trim settings will put the model will cause the model to "twirl". Rudder inputs will cause the plane to yaw out of vertical and I can keep it near a more natural state of flight for a few moments and then I'm back to vertical. Kind of cool looking on the screen but I'm glad I'm not experiencing that reality. I'm not sure a Constellation can survive a 6,000 fpm climb rate. Other effected aircraft are: B-1B; E2C Hawkeye, B29 and F-14D.I'm using a Saitek force feedback stick(w/twist). I might add that the majority of my other models operate as they are intended.Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.Mike4678

Had the same problem myself. One thing of note is that some aircraft I have had seem to "go vertical" if I take off with, say 30% fuel while they are OK with full tanks or something approaching that.Anyway .... I downloaded an Airbus AXXX which only flew the range of a 737 but should have been more like a 747. I first increased the thrust (that was also wrong) and I shot straight up. I added more fuel and two more fuel tanks .... straight up. I have now shifted the COG in the aircraft.cfg file and it flies perfectly OK.Regarding the joystick. You probably know that the stick is self calibrating meaning that everytime you load MSFS it must be recalibrated by moving it through it's range (including throttle). As you fly it will continue to recalibrate meaning that it's "centre point" will change. Because that point is always moving you will find that a small pull back on the stick may actually be the same as pulling all the way back on a "normal" stick. The only workaround I found was to calibrate before taxi, recalibrate again before takeoff, disable joystick when enaging autopilot and recalibrating when I needed to use it at any point in the flight. I have now gone back to my trusty Cyborg 3D only using the other for helicopters cos I found it to be such a pain. One other thing worth doing is somewhere in the settings for the joystick (Control Panel) there is something that can be ticked that has something to do with enabling some kind of attribute in "games" that do not utilise forcefeedback (sorry haven't used it for ages so dunno exact wording but its at the bottom of a screen with a lot of sliders referring to sensitivities etc) and associated with the tick is a slider, if you move that slider toward a high value the stick will move towards its' central position when you let it go.Sorry bit long and good luck ...............
