It's a good sign for the Flight Sim industry that some major retailers are taking on some boxed flight sim titles. My impression was that boxed PC games are basically going the way of the dinosaur, especially for hard-core sim titles. This is a nice counter blip in the larger trend...

Why such a huge difference in price?!
I wondered that too. I can see no reason for BestBuy offering this as a loss-leader, so I wonder how much BestBuy paid?

Why such a huge difference in price?!
I think its all really good there is no way that bestbuy is going to sell a flightsim title or simulation software for $80.00 us dollars now at around 30.00 dollars seems about right to me I figure they will sale more and make there money at the price point so instead of having let say 3 people buy it at 80.00 or have 20 people buying it at 30.00 or even more at least I believe they will make there money back. So its really good for aerosoft, and pmdg, bestbuy has allot of stores hopefully it does great! I also want to say that in no way I think its bad for pmdg to charge 80 dollars for there work, and they deserve it its just that since the dollar is weak and money is very tight for some people its hard to get 80 for some products.

I agree. PMDG products are really good.. I have 737NG for FS9 and is, in my opinion, one of the best ACs ever. Now I fly only in FSX and can't wait 737NG for FSX. I will buy it, whatever the price is, it's just a little bit strange to know that people can get the product for less than half price. I'm from Europe and I don't think I can buy at Bestbuy. I'm glad to pay more for quality (80 bucks) and I understand the concept behind discounts and stuff but this discount is HUGE. A funny situation, that's all.

well i do work there and i enjoy talking to customers about fs9 or fsx. noticed browsing our internal inventory system on future software titles and saw 4 aerosoft titles in the mix. "747 queen of the skies", f-16 and a couple others. wasn't going to bring it up because it might be against policy here about other places or prices but 29.99 is real nice for the average joe. forum moderator at aerosoft brings it up about best buy and aerosoft and having a brick and "quicksand" retailer carry some of their titles.
It is suppose to release today, but it becomes backorder and not available on my nearby store (Detroit, MI) according to their website. Has anybody be able to get a copy either online or in-store?~ Charles

I got my email yesterday that said its on backorder too. Kinda shakey if this is going to really pan out.Showboat

I'm glad Aerosoft has done this, because having a physical copy also has many benefits, such as*Having a nice shiny box to stare at all day :(*Being able to get a product immediately, without downloading (for ppl with slower connections)*Hopefully this will discourage piracy for preteens and even some adults. (No more excuses like, "My parents don't buy things online")*Cheaper Prices*Did I mention you get to look at a shiny box, and get a physical manual? :(*Publicity*More $$$ for developers.

Great! So it seems folks like me who paid recently 80 bucks for this plane are now completely outfoxed! I won't buy any payware add-on plane for FSX anymore if I can see a while later it costs almost threefold less...Guys, you should change caption on your banners to "Naive supporter" instead of "Proud supporter" just now. Farewell! :(

I don't know that I'd get too excited yet. Those of us who prepaid haven't received their software yet. I wouldn't be surprised if Best Buy came back and said "We mispriced this product, sorry!"

Lighten up. I've purchased many flight sim addons at full price that later had significant price reductions and I didn't complain. As I recall the PMDG 747 was released 2+ years ago. Most of the the enthusiasts who wanted it probably have it by now. I suspect sales have been dropping, especially since the MD-11 came out. Releasing a boxed edition is a good move by PMDG to expose their products to simmers who never heard of PMDG. They'll get sales they wouldn't have gotten otherwise, and good for them. Wait another two or three years and the MD-11 and JS4100 may be at Best Buy as well. Wait long enough and FSX will be in the bargain bin. That's the nature of the business...hardware and software.

I definitely agree with your comments since most people will not buy a $80.00 add-on like me. Problem lies with Best Buy (Worst/Incompetent Buy) since one minute there in-stock the next there not. I've gone in and telephoned my local store and still waiting on "unloading of the truck." Hopefully the 8 copies they ordered are actually on the truck? :( Darryl
