PC Pilot say no PMDG A320?

Featured Replies

I did a search, but never found a confirmed answer. I was just reading in PC Pilot that PMDG has decided to NOT make the A320. Is this True? If it is, I think it is a smart move since the airsimmer is going to be of the same level. :( Jonathan

you'll have to forgive me, but AS could turn out really bad. It could be PMDG level work, at $80, i'll wait for AVSIM's review, thank you.Sam

Sam, While I agree with you that Airsimmer might be awesome or be terrible, Avsim reviews tend to be universally positive. Gleaning negative comments is like reading the Talmud and finding some glimmer of negativity and then arguing about it and coming to your own conclusions. Avsim reviews seem to have three flavors: good, awesome and "perfect."

If all reviews are biased, none of them are objective. The best measure of how good a product is, is the forums of the developer concerned.Best regards,Robin.

I think all news not coming directly from PMDG themselves should be disregarded.

Wow, this got to be the most succinct statement in a while on these forums... and most rabbis would probably agree :(

I can tell you from being a part of there extended beta/test team, that it is not going to be bad. Even with a lot of work that still needs to be completed in the aircraft, it is already on the same level as PMDG (system depth, graphics, complexity, model are all A+ work).I do agree with another post that anything that doesnt come from PMDG should be disregarded, but that is why I am asking. I would like to know if this is true or not. :(

see, thats what upsets me. the fact that you say, "Even with a lot of work that still needs to be completed...." When very early in the year, we were told it was going to be released.Sam

I don't think an Extended Team member can go any further with that conversation at the moment (NDA) and this is PMDG's forum, not Airsimmer's, so let's talk about PMDG eh?

Yeah, sorry for the bluntness. I've been in the market for a flight planning and/or ATC and/or traffic add-on, and its a royal pain trying to figure out what's good because the reviews are always so enthusiastic. You have to dig through forums to get the mass opinion. I get that the reviews need to be positive to support the industry, but when an add-on has a big FPS hit, and its listed as a pro that its not a "massive" FPS hit, the reviews lose some credibility. Hopefully, when AS comes out, there will be an AS support forum which we can read and get a flavor of the magnitude of any problems.

...I think you fail to see through some very important point regarding product reviews:1) Usually, what we do when we come to our conclusion, is that we base our final opinion on the price the product costs (or at least I do). In relation to its price, a product can be either overpriced, just right, or underpriced.2) This means that a product can be very simple, but if it costs only $5, we are not gonna deride it. We'll say "you get what you pay for".3) Just about every review I read at Avsim or wrote myself does not fail to mention at least some points that could be better. Depending on how bad these points are, they'll either get into the "what I don't like about product x" box or not. If it doesn't come there, or it is stated there is nothing big not to like, then you can assume the product is indeed very good.4) As comes out of point 3: even though sometimes there is nothing big o dislike, products are never "perfect". I have reviewed some great stuff, but from experience I know that even the best things had one or two points that needed improving.5) In the end, we say: "if you x, y and z, you may like it. Otherwise, leave it." That doesn't mean we think it's universally good, or awesome, it means you need to reconsider if you don't want to do x, y and z, or are not of the type of person x, y or z.I hope it is more clear now what we try to do. We are not here to tell you flat out if a product is good, we try to give every reader that reads our reviews an unbiased, useful buying tip. For example, say we have got a great product, that has no 2D panel, and costs $55. The conclusion might be something like this:"Product x is a very robust simulation airplane y. The system simulation is absolutely great and a very good exterior model gives you hours of joy. Also the VC, which is not state of the art, really delivers. However, as there is no 2D panel, for some people that prefer these panels over the VC, it might not be a good idea to buy it. Also, for the price you pay, you might have expected a 2D panel; $55 is not a low price for an aircraft! Ultimately though, if you like VCs, this is a difinite recommendation. If you don't, I don't recommend it to you."I think this is an unbiased representation of facts, that give multiple people a useful buying advice. If you don't think so, I'd be interested to hear your complaints, and we might be able to do something about it. In such a case, could you please PM me?

I think you are right. Read the latest review of Simflight's Cessna 172. That's quite honest...

I had to bump this one back up since there is another thread about the A320.

Guys, Talking about the A320 Outside of the Airsimmer ET Forums is a breach of your NDA's.I recommend you stop commenting on the state of the A320 Entirely. Ryan,
