J41 FSEconomy flight landing Upper Loon Creek (U72)

Nice, JB...That low reconnoiter pass was a little fast, and you're really not supposed to pull the engines into beta while you're on final...How did the takeoff go?

LOL.... Thanks...The low pass was a low aproach not a landing attempt. I was hoping to get a good look at the windsocks. Durring the low aproach I wanted to keep the energy up to climb out for the modified base turn. If your talking about the Red Reverser Anucation lights, there on the entire recording eventhough the engines aren't in Beta. For some reason, FSRecorder has problems showing the correct throttle cues and sounds with the J41. I'm sure it's because the engines are coded outside of FSX. Other custom coded addons do the same like the DodoSim 206.I was thinking about capturing the video live, but I already had enough on my plate just simming the approach. So I decided to capture from a track recording from FSRecorder. The takeoff is scheduled for tomorrow morning. LOL... gonna need the low temps, hopefully a headwind, and an hour to burn off 500 lbs of fuel. I think I will be lucky to get outa there without killing some squirrels. Thanks for watching YodaJB

JB,Before you start your waiting for an hour, you might try to find a copy of "A Gift of Wings" by Richard Bach. Try a used bookstore. There's a story in it called, "Steel, Aluminum, Nuts and Bolts" about a guy who makes an emergency landing with his Aeronca Champ in a mountain clearing, fixes it, and then discovers that the field is 400 feet too short for him to safely take off.

No offence JB, but I don'T want to sit in that airplane during this kind of flying -g-

LOL... I don't have a choice. I have to get the plane outa there. Or the J41 is stuck there in the FSEconomy world.. And then I will have to pay to get it shipped outa there... When I first bought the J41, I did my first flight from KVNY to KAVX, Catalina airport. I didn't change the loadout of the plane, it was default, with the deafult load, so it was 50% fuel and about 2 passengers per row if I remember correctly... The takeoff was close and I remember the mains lifting off on the numbers. I didn't use "All available runway" on that takeoff as I remember rolling from the hold short line. KAVX is about 3000 feet long and 1700 feet elev. U72 is up at 5000 feet and 2500 feet long with about 600 feet of runoff. The good news is I am planning to takeoff with just enough fuel to make it to Mc Call (KMYL) only 55 miles away where I can refuel to complete my paydirt. And my payload for this flight is only 1600 LBS. So I think in good conditions it might be possible... I'm not saying I will be a able to do it, just that I will try. ;)Regardless I will record it do or die and you can laugh if I don't.Just woke up, need to make a few work calls and then I will give it a try...JB

Ok, just finished the departure. I know, the methods aren't entirely realistic, but it was full realism, crashes were on, I didn't remove autogen and it was the first attempt. The aircraft was at BOW plus 1615 LBS as far back in the plane as I could get it with around 1500 Lbs of kerosene. Temp was optimal at 0C and winds weren't, at calm with no headwind. I guess in real life I woulda had to own the aircraft to thrash on it like that and the passengers woulda got off the plane as soon as the tug started pulling the plane into the forest, but this flight was only cargo no pax for the FSEconomy flight. I woulda also had to pay the airport owner for the slight remodeling of Brush clearing and pothole filling off the runway, but in desperate times requires desperate measures... The plane leaped off the ground at around 120 knots... The published speed cards based on conditions showed a VR of 99 knots at 9 degrees flaps. I threw another notch of flaps in a few seconds before rotation. The V1 speed woulda been a joke and actual safe V1 woulda been roughly at 50 knots to give me enough time to stop the plane on dirt, hey I was committed as soon as I hit 50 knots. I'm taking a guess here, but I estimate the adition of the "Runon and Runoff" space used added another 700 feet totaling about 3200 feet of used ground for the takeoff. That seems about right. The extra braking efficiency due to the mud allowed me to get the plane up to 100% torque before releasing brakes instead of sliding on the dirt and using up valuable ground. Considering the actual performance I will try tomorrow just using the actual runway and see how close I get. I will probably hit the trees...Anyway, the plane aint stuck there anymore and I can continue to make my VCash without having to spend it shipping the plane outa the field...I just uploaded it, so it might take a while to get rendered in Utube for HD, but watch HD if you can...

It was fun, thanks for watching...JB

Looks great and could you imagine what would be going through a real pilots head in that situation. Great video though. I like how you had it from all the different angles too. The last view it looked like a real step climb out, but in the VC it didnt look steep at all. Looked like fun and I may just have to see how well I do trying to get out of there.

Yeah, if that was a real situation, the pilot woulda never landed there.. ;) Definately never tried to take off.... If you have Fly Tampas "St Maarten", try St Barts runway 10... it's a fun approach. Or grab something smaller than the J41 like DA's Cheyenne and try Saba in the same scenery, thats even more fun... The scenery is so good, that the videos look awsome...JB
