Big Brother Wants to Know Why I Haven't Played ROF Lately

Featured Replies

I received an odd email today noting that I have not been playing Rise of Flight much lately. They want to know why not.Okay, best possible spin, they are just trying to improve their product and do some market research. But for some reason, it just struck me the wrong way. If you want to know why I haven't played ROF it is because I am up to my ears in some serious mayhem at the moment and have had little time even for my primary flight sim, unfortunately. What's next, "We can't help but notice you always fly for the German side. Perhaps you could explain why." Or, "Your shooting is abysmal and you're lucky to even take off without crashing. Would you be interested in purchasing some additional training material?"

I haven't played it yet cause I can't get my joystick setups to work. I'd love to get the email to give feedback-but maybe because I never even got started I am off the list.

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

the world is getting creepier by the daywhat is this .. you buy a game and now they are someone to answer to? summons me? ....... Ha!I'd probably ignore the querry and add the email to the junk or block listor ask them why they haven't come by to carry the game out to the curb on trash pick up daysorry to read you got it .Joe

Let's see if I can word this properly? As Americans, we have a perspective based upon our laws, customs, etc. Those in other countries will deal with different laws, customs, etc. I would not be put off as much knowing that the email came from outside the US, I'm assuming based upon the developer's locale, than if it came from inside the U.S.And sometimes it may be as simple as someone being concerned enough to spend a few moments finding out if a customer is happy or if there is something that needs addressing. When they come knocking at the door is when I would be mighty suspicious!

This is ridiculous, it would strike me the wrong way too. There is only one honest answer for that - None of your business. I hate intrusive market research and practices.

I wonder if they'd send that message if they made any sort of sequel..."Why are you not playing ROF?""Because I'm playing ROF2"One can always imagine...

There are a few netbooks out right now that use Verizons internet service.Anything you can do to avoid being locked into AT&T is worth it, even for the coveted iPhone.
What the hell does this have to do with RoF or observation of usage?

Not a big deal, I guess. But this is part of why I am not yet interested in having to invasively register a game (as with Steam) just to play it. If I want to play something, I will. If I don't want to play it for a year...that's for me to know.Bob

I have a better idea."Thank you for your recent inquiry. I have been busy of late with some rather complicated financial transactions in Nigeria that I am not at liberty to discuss. However, I think you would make an excellent partner, and have provided your email address to Mr. Mgumbo. You can expect him to contact you shortly."In the interest of fairness, here is the complete text:Thank you for buying

Hi all, I also recieved the email. I didn't take it as anything other than wanting to know how I felt about the game. The questions were pretty obvious. Asked mostly what I might have problems with. I see this as trying to improve the product. Not a bad thing. I kind of like the idea that they are at least interested in why I have't played much lately. Seems they actually care about what they are selling. Not the "we got your money, oh well" attitude. I don't remember MS sending me a personal email asking what problems we were having with FSx when it first came out :( Of course, it was on every forum on the planet LOL :(.. Love the machine guns on kites comment...makes me want to go fly it some more :( Larry

Neoqb is very interested in what the customers have to say, much more than most flight simmers may be used to. You have to use e-mail to register your game. Whenever you do play, your e-mail is linked to your activity on their server. They've been very up front about the sort of data they are collecting: gameplay stats. Maybe there is more sinister stuff going on, but I doubt it. I'm thinking that there is a lot more information being collected by Facebook than neoqb. Jeff ShylukSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIM
