We need a voting system...

I think this would be very benefitial to the system. If voting on files are allowed, people will be able to give some rough feedback of what to expect when dowloading a package. It might help decrease traffic problems if poeple can see in advance whether the file is good or not.Petition list:Yay? or Nay?

This suggestion has been brought up many many times in the past. It is a non-starter. What right do the community have to say that a freeware offering is good, bad, or otherwise? It is the contribution of an individual or team, created in their free time, to the community. Insulting those individuals or teams with a "bad" rating would be counterproductive, to say the least. We will not do this.

Perhaps you're focusing on the negatives of a voting system Tom.A vote against a particular product, is not necessarily a condemnation of that product.Perhaps a system which records "votes for" only might be considered.BinnCott

Yes, and what about the immature who would ballot stuff with bad ratings or competitive types who deliberately rated their competitor's offering negatively. This "voting" would open up a whole can of worms and it is one that we are not willing to deal with. No thanks.

What about something along the lines of being able to comment on an item? I guess it sends the same message as voting I suppose.
