October 14, 200916 yr Maybe they'll release the code for XP at the same time. Has MS ever released program code to the public domain?Yep...http://www.microsoft.com/opensource/default.aspxhttp://port25.technet.com/even the .Net framework source is readily available in public domain unless I am mistaken...and per MS themselves: Today, numerous open source developers and business partners have chosen Microsoft technologies: * Developers have created more than 79,000 open source applications using Microsoft platform technologies that are available on the Sourceforge.net and Codeplex.com repositories. * Many companies who have chosen to build businesses around open source software are working with Microsoft to deliver value to our shared customers, including SugarCRM, MySQL, Novell, JBoss, Zend, XenSource, Sun Microsystems, Mozilla, Aras, SpikeSource, and Xorp.Sorry to go off topic but ask a question get an answer ;)back on topic now, I do agree, it is always nice to get the FS9 perspective on things,-Paul Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
October 14, 200916 yr Maybe they'll release the code for XP at the same time. Has MS ever released program code to the public domain? And remember it was Bill Gates himself as a sub contractor, who conned IBM into letting him keep the rights to the first PC operating system- now known as Windows! I wouldn't expect MS to ever relinquish rights to any of their products! Alex Reid

October 16, 200916 yr Hummm...interesting. Well, I had heard a number of years ago that MS was going to release Win 3.x into the public domain but apparently they didn't. I guess that's why I wrote "Correct Me If I'm Wrong". Well, thanks for the sideways heads up regardless!Mark
