Maybe they'll release the code for XP at the same time. Rolling%20Eyes.gifHas MS ever released program code to the public domain?
Yep...http://www.microsoft.com/opensource/default.aspxhttp://port25.technet.com/even the .Net framework source is readily available in public domain unless I am mistaken...and per MS themselves: Today, numerous open source developers and business partners have chosen Microsoft technologies: * Developers have created more than 79,000 open source applications using Microsoft platform technologies that are available on the Sourceforge.net and Codeplex.com repositories. * Many companies who have chosen to build businesses around open source software are working with Microsoft to deliver value to our shared customers, including SugarCRM, MySQL, Novell, JBoss, Zend, XenSource, Sun Microsystems, Mozilla, Aras, SpikeSource, and Xorp.Sorry to go off topic but ask a question get an answer ;)back on topic now, I do agree, it is always nice to get the FS9 perspective on things,-Paul

And remember it was Bill Gates himself as a sub contractor, who conned IBM into letting him keep the rights to the first PC operating system- now known as Windows! I wouldn't expect MS to ever relinquish rights to any of their products! Alex Reid

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Windows 3.x in the public domain now?Mark

What's your evidence for believing that?

What's your evidence for believing that?Did you mean to say that you know that MS hasn't released Win 3.x or am I to present evidence to the bench?Mark

On the MS website is a list of all MS opensource and/or public domain software. Neither Win 3.x nor any other OS is on it!Wolfgang

If you make a claim then, yes, you should present evidence to support it.

Gerry Howard

Hummm...interesting. Well, I had heard a number of years ago that MS was going to release Win 3.x into the public domain but apparently they didn't. I guess that's why I wrote "Correct Me If I'm Wrong". Well, thanks for the sideways heads up regardless!Mark
