October 19, 200916 yr The title of the article is " P55 Extreme Overclockers: Check your sockets!"Keyword being EXTREME.I know that many users of FSX overclock. I don't believe however that to many of them would be classified as extreme overclockers. In other words those who overclock using exotic cooling measures just to say they did it.Please read the last paragraph in anandtech article again."We have not had any problems with air or water cooling overclocking up to 4.3GHz, although we do have a i5/750 that has developed a few dark pads after a thousand hours or so of constant overclocking. However, none of the boards have developed pin problems so we feel very safe in saying that any problems will probably occur only in extreme overclocking scenarios." EXTREME OVERCLOCKING.CraigYes it says extreme, but if you read the whole thing it never says that its not possible with lightly overclocked or non LN2 systems. Its generally saying overclocks around the 4GHz area. Its not possible to overclock with LN2 so there would be no reason to post an article if that was true. Also if you read the comments, people said even with stock clocks they have had some damage. It depends on the socket, how much contact there is between the cpu and socket, and # of contacts on the CPU compared to the socket. He's just trying to protect people from replacing expensive parts, so calm down and stop fussing, gosh... Next time read more carefully...EDIT: and if you actually knew, less contact between pins, which has nothing to do with overclocking, and increased power can produce extreme heat due to the metal having less surface area contact which means a great amount of electricity has to go through a small area and can damage products and cause what you see in the images...
