FS2004 Sound question

Just want to know. Do all the default aircraft have authentic sounding engines. Or are some aliased to others? The sim looks fantastic!REgardsErich

IMO the inside sounds aren't realistic. It also depends if you compare it to real flying with or without a headset, and are you wearing one with ANR or not. When flying without a headset FS sounds (and probably speaker limitations) don't compare. When just toot'n around in a C152 I used to leave the headset behind, and fly with the window open. :)When flying other planes I wore a headset without ANR. The headset cuts down the sound of the engine, but there's still a low freq drone that gets to you on long flights (my longest was 6.3 hrs). The radio comes in crystal clear in your ear, as well as things such as nav station id tones, and OMR tones, and you don't really hear much else. I suppose if MS made the sounds "as real as it gets," it would bore people to death. In the FS sound setup I turn the engine sounds, cockpit sounds, and environment sounds down, and leave ATC, and Nav sounds up. The only drawback to this is when in external views the sounds are weak compared to real sounds.I think the FS2002 external sound for the C172 and Baron do capture the sound of their real world counterparts, but it doesn't sound like it does if your standing there by one, if that makes any sense.Even with the sounds setup as above, I still find the KingAir and Lear45 engine sounds to be way to loud.

Sorry to be a little blunt here, but who really gives a hoot about MS sounds? There are tons of very accurate sound sets already available for download. Same could be said for their panels as well. While it seems their panels are reasonable, in a few weeks the add-on gurus will blow the "out-of-the-box" panels away.Come to think of it, the same could be said for aircraft, mesh terrain and landclass as well. It's unreasonable to expect MS to expend the time, money and energy to create extremely detailed stuff for the general public. They could care less about the difference between 150-meter and 38-meter mesh. While we fanatics will still complain and immediately grab 3rd party stuff to get a little closer to nirvana -- an unobtainable goal by the way.Racartronit means something, but I just can't remember what
