182.50 drivers in Windows 7 64

Hi,Is anybody using the 182.50 drivers in Windows 7 64, I used those in Xp with good results, butI have not found anything on the forums how they will perform in win 7 64.Thanks

I use them. Anything higher and sound stutters appear on my setup.

The 182.50 are only WDDM 1.0-compliant. They work fine under Win 7, but you don't get the advantage of more efficient use of RAM. For that, you need WDDM 1.1-compliant drivers. The first of these was, I think, one of the 189 drivers. In my case, however, the 182.50 drivers do not out-perform the latest WHQL or beta drivers. There seems to be little pattern in what different people experience.Tim

So you used the WinXPx64 182.5 driver from Nvida and forced onto your Win7x64 installation? How did you do that? I haven't been able to find anything older than the 185.x series for Win7x64. Are you using nHancer too - what version?

No. The Vista version of the 182.50 drivers was utilized. XP video drivers are not even remotely compatible with Vista/Win 7.

Why wouldn't you want to use the latests? I'm using the 191.07 drivers on Win7 64 and have had no problems.Craig

No. The Vista version of the 182.50 drivers was utilized. XP video drivers are not even remotely compatible with Vista/Win 7.

Oh I see, that makes sense. Did you run the installer in 'compatibility mode' like vitsa-sp2 mode?

Graphics drivers made for Windows Vista adhere to the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) 1.0 standard. Windows 7 has WDDM 1.1 support but also supports 1.0 drivers, so Vista drivers can be used in 7 (exceptions apply).

Thanks for all the reply's, I tried an earlier win 7 set of drivers, but have since gone back to the 191.07.Should soon see a new Nvidia driver.
