Recommended Posts

Guest LSangiovanni LIML

Hi friends, when i change view, for example, when i go to spot view and then revert to 2D panel forward view, cannot stick the angle of view i selected before and have to use again SHIFT-ENTER to watch down for feeding my needs. Now i ask, is there a way to stick a view editing panel.cfg?I know there is a line to insert but i have never done such kind of job :-(VIEW_FORWARD_WINDOWS=MAIN_PANEL,20, 21,...VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=0.0, 0.0, 000Should this be correct? What do numbers represent? i need to watch down. Thanks in advanceLuigi ;-)

VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=0.0, 0.0, 000 ^^^IRC, it's the first # you change for the up/down view. I forget what the other two do. One is the left/right offset, perhaps the other is forward and backward.

Enter the view parameters in the Views section.VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=0.0, 0.0, 000To "raise your seat" to see over the panel better, change the 1st parameter which is Pitch. Try 4.0 as a starting point. The parameters are documented in the Panel SDK.The 3 values are: Pitch, Bank, and Heading. Milton

<<<<<<<>>>>>>Good advice ... but Luigi, bear in mind that this is also changing the angle of view ... therefore, when you zoom the outside view in this mode, the horizon will disappear above you as though you are going down. You can change the parameters of the outside view, still looking straight ahead, using the default view commands at the end of the PANEL.CFG file. On the default Cessna 182, for example, they look like this:(Default View)X=0Y=0SIZE_X=8192SIZE_Y=2500Try changine the 'Y' setting in increments and see what you get.Mark "Dark Moment" BeaumontP.S. I never read instructions, so these are only my findings. To recap, changing the view this way still gives you a level view; changing using the 'Pitch' command does exactly that, it changes the pitch of the view.http://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

That is correct Beau ...There are 3 options relative to this issue:1. Using your mentioned technique "flattens" the vertical screen by pushing the the tarmac or ground upward. Unfortunately it also "squashes" or flattens the scenery.2. Another alternative is to change the default eyepoint in the aircraft.cfg. This works well if you do NOT have a VC, otherwise the exterior view of wings/engines becomes too low.3. So, if you do not want to flatten scenery and you do have a VC with external views, then your last resort is to use the pitch parameter in the Views section of the panel.cfg.The shift+enter command effectively moves the seat (eyepoint in the cfg) up temporarily. By doing so, it does not affect the VC external views as the eyepoint reverts back to default.Tradeoffs ... :-) Pick the one that best suits your situation.
