747-400X TRC Lesson 3 Part 1

Recommended Posts

I have a couple of quick questions about this tutorial:When I load this flight A/T is armed, FD is on and VNAV is on. Is this correct? I think VNAV should be off. After takeoff I accelerate to about 166, lower the nose, set the speed bug to 250, retract flaps completely and then press the SPD button. But the SPD light will NOT come on. The aircraft then continues to accelerate past 250. Why won't SPD activate when I press this button? Thanks for any help!Airbus

VNAV/LNAV/AT is normally armed before takeoff, FD is on. Engage AP above 400 AGL.Don't climb on SPD, allow FMS to command CLB power and use VNAV, which will allow pitch to control speed. Most times, the 747 will climb at a faster speed than 250.Add some weight, she is a handfull when light and when learning it is easier if not light.
