Tire marks on runways..

Recommended Posts

I only recently noticed that I sometimes leave tire marks at touchdown on the landing runway with my new 737NG.. does anyone know if this only happens when you fly the "big iron"? Most of my flying is in GA aircraft, and I simply do not recall having seen this before..Pretty neat feature!

Yes you can also leave tire marks with the GA's it depends also on the smothness and the combination of ground Speed/vertical Speed at the time of touch down, one neat feature if you, like me spend almost an hour trying to set the FMC and when you align to the active, you can see the tire marks of the dozen or more heavies that have landed before...

I find most any plane will leave tire marks. I fly a Cessna 152 a lot, doing touch and go's leaves lots of rubber, even with smooth landings. I get a kick out of the huge plume of tire smoke when I land that little puppy, tires won't last long that way!!!

>I only recently noticed that I sometimes leave tire marks at>touchdown on the landing runway with my new 737NG..I am utterly confused ...Don't tell me that you can make "personal" tire marks in FS2002 ... from your own landings. I tried it and can't see any marks. Are you talking about real life or simulation ??Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg

This appears to be a "feature" in FS2002.. I only noticed it with the 737, but others seem to experience it with GA aircraft as well.It is neat when you land a second time on the same runway and you see the marks from your earlier landing, complete with multiple hops if you did not get the bird down in one try..

I made countless (100+ ?) of landings on runway 9 at St. Maarten in the 767 and I don't see a single mark of "my" own origin. The only thing see I can see are the same generic marks that stretch through the whole length of runway (very unrealistic).Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg

I think it depends on the "effect" slider setting in FS, for those who can't see tire marks try increase this to the max. Or maybe it is dependent on other slider setting?
