Any views on the new FSD Cirrus 50 jet ?

Featured Replies

Came here today, after getting the email from FSD announcing the release of their new Cirrus 50 jet (single engine biz jet), was surprised to see no posts.Anyone got this one, and is it any good ?Magne, greets from norway

I suspect after their recent releases drew flack for major performance issues customers are all waiting for someone else to get it first. But their promotion doesn't do them any favours - the screenshots are all of unfinished betas, there are inconsistencies in some of the shot (panel shows unlabelled switches in a couple of views, they are completely missing in others) there's not a single promotional video to accompany the release so we can have a look at the refresh rate of the glass displays (which was the kiss of death in their last couple of FSX planes) and there is only limited information on the website so we really have no idea how complex this addon is - it might be Carenado, it might be Level-D... I'm sure they'll wake up to the realities of promotion in due course, but until then I think the cautious approach is best in these parsimonious times.

You're dead right, I was thinking of buying this tonight but those screenshots put me off immediately. I saw the shots with buttons with no labelling on them! And then labelled shots in other screenies! And some of the texturing in the VC certainly looks unfinished.I purchased the Quality Wings 757 instead but am extremely disappointed with this add-on too, which is exasperatingly 'unfinished' in my honest opinion! These developers seem to be hurrying to release stuff for Xmas but the quality seems really poor in those two cases ........

Good looking shots Steve. :(

They were nice shots, Ron, thanks for the comment. Unfortunately, access to them by forum readers has been denied by Avsim forum admin who removed my post without even the courtesy of an explanation or a PM.
I don't think commercial members are allowed to post screenshots here.-Alex
I happen to agree with the original respondent who said the images on our website were not especially clear, and in fact some images were of beta software. That oversight will be corrected shortly, the observations were helpful to us, and I am grateful to the original poster for offering those comments. The conclusion that the project was unfinished was incorrect, but based on those images I guess I can understand why that view was formed to some extent. That's why the links to the images were offered - links to images *elsewhere*.I have posted the links to those images in our support forum, where they will be available until we update our website but I'd better not post a link to that. Other updated images are freely available to view in the Sim-Outhouse forum as well. It's all but impossible for a developer to respond to criticism and/or provide useful information in this venue nowadays, which was the sole purpose of that post. That's something I do find disheartening.

First, a PM WAS sent, but I have been having some recurring issues with PMs lately. There's no lack of courtesy there, just a lack of not knowing whether or not the intended recipient actually received my PM. I'll have that checked out.Second, if you are finding it difficult to respond to criticism or provide useful information here, than I HIGHLY suggest talking with the folks at Eaglesoft, who I believe are the most actively involved developers in this forum. We don't prevent developers from responding under the terms of use.And third, the poster above was correct. We aren't allowed to permit those links, once again per the terms of use. AVSIM members who are not developers can do that, but advertising, real or perceived, is a very slippery slope here. You may intend no disrespect of this system, but others certainly do, and will take advantage of these forums every chance they get. That's why we try to be as fair as we can across the board.

Steve, I'm sure you'll get your web screens squared away soon. Meantime allow me to echo your frustration with some of the prohibitions for commercial devs here. It's quite obvious that there are few commercial devs who have a few "customers" post their regularly scheduled screenies who have a track to meet. This site is the only site that has such stringent rules on commercial devs even in the screenshot forum.Oh well, such is the FS Community these days. :(

I'm hoping that you are only talking about developers posting screenshots, and not in anyway insinuating that we've been unfairly harsh on Eaglesoft, specifically you, or any other developer. I went to bat for you folks during the Citation fallout, which can be attested to by other admin here, quite frequently. In fact, there's been many posts by developers that violate the terms of use that we have been very generous with. If we would have stuck strictly to the terms of use agreed to, there would have been countless posts hidden or removed over the past few months from a few developers, yourself included.

Ron, Thanks for the support. We don't solicit Dorothy Dix posts by customers but even I've seen satisfied customers (of any developer) who post from time to time get their posts culled. It seems Ok to say something negative about products (several recent projects by other developers come to mind) yet a happy camper can't say he's happy because he's suspected of being a plant. How fair is that ? As John Wayne would say : "not hardly".Jeremy,Sigh ... As you well know, I was responding to feedback and fair criticism, and I was clearly attempting to balance the view as was obvious. My post as obviously not a promotion. You arbitrarily killed my post and you never contacted me, and that was pretty rude considering. I am very easy to contact as Tom and other Admins know. As far as simple common courtesy around here, that's a sore point. Should I be expecting a simple Thank You for the $100 donation I gave to the Avsim server fund back in May ? An email costs nothing. It's a matter of record (on your books) but I've never said anything about it before ... yet I'd have thought $100 gift deserved more than a PayPal receipt. Again, it's simply good manners. There are so may rules here they are killing this forum as a useful venue, IMO. Can't do this ... can't do that ... blah blah blah ... the worst of it is that those rules are not being consistently applied. It's OK for some to throw rocks anonymously (fairly, or unfairly and usually anonymously) but it's not OK for people who ID themselves (as I invariably do) to respond to criticism with fact. This hobby is not exactly thriving and it needs help, not hindrances.

No direct or indirect implications to you or any other mods Jeremy. We thanked you then and repeat it here and now. :( What I'm refering to is the general implication that commercial devs are evil intentioned scum who will take advantage of every loophole to ensnare unsuspecting flights simmers and force them to look at commercial product screenshots until they purchase said product against their will. :( I just don't understand the reason for the rules I guess. :( Especially since competing sites not only do not have the prohibition but actually encourage commercial devs to post early and often. Ron, Thanks for the support.Jeremy,Jeremy,As you well know, I was responding to a criticism, a fair criticism, attempting to balance the view. It was obviously not a promotion, and you know it. First off, I'll decide what I do and don't know. I do know the AVSIM terms of use, and I also know what I have specifically asked Tom and other admin here to be in violation of those rules. Tom himself agreed that another developer was in violation when he did that in the Hangar Chat forum a few months ago, and I have no reason to suspect he has changed his mind since. Second, as has been well documented, and I'm assuming will be looked into when Mr. Binner receives my request, I DID attempt to contact you. Many others, staff and members, can verify that my PMs have been having issues. There was nothing rude about me sending a PM that didn't make it through, just an error which has been more and more typical as of late for some reason.Next, I know nothing about donations here, who handles them, where they go, or anything else. That's got nothing to do with me. My only job is to uphold the terms of use as best I can, and help people with there accounts. And again, I don't make the rules, I don't even have to agree with each of them specifically, but I DO have to enforce them. And finally, it IS NOT okay for "some to throw rocks anonymously but it's not OK for people who ID themselves (as I do) to respond to criticism". You have absolutely no idea how many members I've had to deal with because of there comments towards Eaglesoft, but I can't get them all. Other mods do there part, Tom will step in from time to time, but I can only do so much. If AVSIM is such a terrible place, and if you have an issue with me doing what I've been told to do, than you can take it up with Tom and ask him to tell me not to do my job.

That's fine. Contrary to what some will tell you, we take no issue with opposing points of view. Here's my resolution to this issue. I WILL continue to act as an adminstrator of these forums as prescribed by Tom Allensworth. This thread, which has nothing to do with the topic, can now be closed, and you can take up any issues you have with Tom.Oh, and Ron - glad we're on the same page there, so long as you don't think I'm one of those who think you're evil intentioned scum. Don't know any others on the staff that feel that way either.
