Ron, Steve-suggest if you don't like the rules to take it up with the boss.Ron-as you well know I am a fan of flight simming and especially developers who enhance our hobby. However, as with many things, the truth is in often the middle, and I fully understand why the rules exist. There are two extremes-those who bash, and those who promote. Simple as that.We try to keep a balance which is extremely difficult between each. I don't think that is hard to comprehend. Those who bash and are rude are generally warned or shown the door. Those who use the forum as an avenue for free advertising get the same treatment.Much of this goes transparently unseen by the multitude of users, both consumers and developers, because a lot of the "muck" is taken care of transparently in the background by mods like David, Jeremy, and I. You would not believe the number of pm's, taking posts out, warnings that go on on a daily basis to try to achieve this balance.I am fully for having developers participate in this forum. I think that is good for all. There are two fine lines we have to walk every day: 1) what a developer considers bashing, what a consumer considers a just critique, and which is valid. 2) What is considered information about a product, and what is advertising and pumping by a manufacturer or a planted shill.1) Is usually pretty easy to decide-though usually the consumer and the developer is not happy one way or the other with the result in between the two extremes2) Is often more difficult-but we do our best to figure it outFrankly, I think we do a pretty good job here of balancing the two, and I think the membership numbers show it. What other sites do is their business. It is no secret this is how it is done here.
