December 8, 200916 yr Hi GuysI have set my PC up pretty much exactly to Nick Ns guide (no exaggeration it is 99% to the letter) . And before I got UTX / REX it seldom dropped below 40-60 FPS most areas with smooth flight.Since purchasing REX and UTX Europe during approaches and scattered clouds the performance is now becoming a little stuttery and FPS are dorpping down to 20FPS or lower at Heathrow and it is annoying me. If it makes any difference, I mainly fly around the UK.I browsed many forums before getting UTX and then REX and all the Forums I looked at suggested that (espicially REX) had little or no effect on performance. (Sometimes improving it)My experience is the opposite of this. UTX and REX definitly effect my performance. Note I have tweaked UTX to Nick Ns guide, disabling Nighlighting etc etc and reducing Traffic down to 10%.With REX I have reduced Cloude textue but that does not seem to make any difference.I even re installed the whole set up on my Dedicated Velociraptor drive but performance was the same.So My question is....Does any one else experience this, did REX and UTX Europe negativley effect your performance, and can anyone suggest a fix.Its a shame becuase I am so impressed with both prodcuts in terms of what they do that I want to buy UTX USA and maybe the PMDG 747 but I fear my perfomance will be too slow. Thanks in advance.Laz Keithy George
December 9, 200916 yr UTX Europe (when I ran it) caused a large amount of stuttering for me. I think its due to the fact that it defines the rivers, streams, lakes and canals more, so there are more vector graphics to calculate. Try to fly around EHAM and you should notice all the little canals here and there (and you'll notice a decrease in FPS)REX probably doesnt hit your frames as much as you think. You can always use 1024 clouds instead of the hd ones. I actually think the 1024 look more realistic when it comes to clouds. Also, in UTX, you can disable cars and disable the street lighting. December 11, 200916 yr HiI see you have an i7 920 and u overclocked it to 4GHz.I have a gigabyte EP45-DS4, E8500 overclocked to 4.1GHz4G RAM and a volictyraptor drive on Vista 64, FSX installed in same drive c:\FSXI like you fly around heathrow and when coming into land with a add-on 767 or PMDG 747 my fps drops to 10-12 else 40 - 120 (120 on cribbean landing) adventureMy question to you isWhat cooling do you use and if its air, what is the rpm of your fan and what model is it?Did you have a none i7 before and have you noticed any real benefit from moving from E8XXX to a i7 mobo and clip?I don't think I would see any real benefit from my rig unless you think otherwise.cheerskrishan Gigabyte EP45-DS4 (F9) E8500 running at 4.1GHz 4G Dominator 1066 running at 1032MHz 898MB XFX 260GTX Vista 64-bit on VolictyRaptor 250GB KIS operating 1440 X 900

I am cooling with Air. Dont know the RPM. Not sure of the model sorry.Reference my originial post.I have completely fixed my problems now. I have the system workling very well locked at 30FPS with UTX / REX with smooth flight 99% of areas. I put it down to completelty re installing everything and the add ons and taking time to install correctly as per Nick Ns guide.FSX is running very well now so I just got UTX USA which also is working perfectly. Must have had a bad install or something,Happy camper now! Keithy George
December 14, 200916 yr HiA little tip that i discovered, plain around with some OC, now 4ghz on my I7 920 D0, put in a "new" driver for my 285GTX, (181.22whql...!!!! realy a nice one :-)), deleted FSX and FS9 cfg and build them up again. only thing i have changed in FSX cfg are "TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=" from default, to 70, nothing else, and have no stutters... with fps locked at 35 and fly my EC135 in VC with 35 fps.FS9 locked at 60 fps and there it stays.... no matter what bird i use :-)Have to say, i have no traffic addons inside... but anyway, both sin's run smotth :( CheersStein-Ove

December 16, 200916 yr What is the internal performance test and how do I run it?I am working with a Dutch version so don't know what the exact words are in Win7 but when you click on the Windows start button (left down corner) and type in the search field performance index, you will see the description. You can also find it in configuration/system and you see a blue index number (classification) with a blue link underneath it.
