December 15, 200916 yr Author Commercial Member They're landing early, 1:22 PST in about 20 minutes at KBFI.CNN has a feed up on their site, not sure if the official page is also going to show the landing, I'd assume so. Supposedly LOT are going to be one of the first European customers to take delivery, so hopefully it won't be too long before I'm flying on one :( Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

December 16, 200916 yr That was a sweet landing, looked like a swan landing in the lake, all elegant like, haha. I wonder if it was a manual or auto landing? I heard the pilots credentials and I know he's quite the pilot, but some aspects of that landing seemed too smooth and looked more like Autoland. Would they test something like that this soon do you think? Personally, I know if I was the test pilot, I would want to be the first one to lay her down ;) i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
December 16, 200916 yr Author Commercial Member Absolutely no way was that an autoland. Just a really good pilot doing it by hand. Autoland is actually designed to put it down really firmly because you want positive contact with the surface for traction in wet conditions. Autolands are extremely rare in the real world, pilots do not like doing them and it requires specific runway equipment that not all airports have and so on. They definitely would not have autolanded a plane on its first test flight either, that will come way later in the process. The chief pilot said in the press conference though that they did come down the ILS because of the visibility - they actually had to call and ask the Boeing ground engineers if it was ok for them to go IFR when the weather started getting bad.
