( Callsign ) Vince "Spazzz" Novak( FS Version ) FS9( Experiance ) 3 Previous Races and i'll fly anything now except for choppers( Timezone ) US EasternI've tentatively got the whole week on vacation though that may change between here and there.

Greetings Team Avsim.I'd like to join the Avsim ATWR team if I might. I've flown the last three races on another team so am already up to speed with the whole thing. Have been flight simming for about six years in various sims. ( Callsign ) James ( Flightsim version ) FS9 ( Experience in Flightsim ) Fly most everything except modern jetliners. Moderately good with choppers. Regular stable includes the Citation X, Lears, P51H, P47, Bearcat, DH Hornet, P38, Do335, A7E, Vega-5C (beauty of an aircraft) and rest of default, as well as most single and twin engine GA. DC7s, B29, RB50, P3 Orion, Tu-95,114. Also some time in the Concorde. ( Timezone =/- UTC ) California USA UTC -8

Hi James, and welcome to the team. StoneCOld (Dave) will have to give you access to the Team AVSIM Private forum where you can get our teamspeak and multiplayer server addresses. We've only just started practicing, so there's still plenty of time left. So far we've been checking how our server and connections are holding up, and we'll start into baton hand-offs a little later. It won't be long 'til you can join us in multiplayer.

Bryan and Mike thanks for the welcome. I was waiting for paperwork to clear but I'll assume I am free to join the practice? James

Yes, although it's been pretty quiet around here recently. You'll need access to the private forum for the server details, of course. We're using a Hamachi VPN and Teamspeak, so you could download and install those while you're waiting. Practice has been a bit intermittant so far, and we haven't had a chance to get serious about baton hand offs yet - plenty of time!

what's the rules for this race? I'm interested, but not sure.

The rules change slightly from year to year just to keep it interesting. For example last year details regarding the route teams should follow were released 24 hours before the race which meant a fury of planning during those 24 hours and a lot of stress. This kind of race pre-planning will change this year with teams only able to plan one continent ahead at a time. You can get an overview of this years race here: http://www.fsrtwrace.com/Being a team member involves logging into our multiplayer facilities which include a Teamspeak server for communication, waiting for a race leg to be allocated to you and flying the leg with a race tracking device called The Duenna which logs your progress. You can get the Duenna here: http://johannesmueller.com/fs/web/duenna/This year we are using Teamspeak 3 which you can get here: http://www.teamspeak.com/You'll need to get the addresses of the servers we're using to join us in multiplayer but have a look at these sites, and the race forum, and let us know if you're still interested.Good luck and welcome to the team.

Thanks for all the info. When does the race start and end? I want to make sure it doesn't interfere with the other stuff in life.

The race begins next Saturday at 1400 UTC which doesn't give you much time to prepare. It's definitely doable if you're interested. For example last year we had a guy join us in the middle of the race which was interesting, and he did really well! The race usually takes about four days. It's run in real time so it means long hours of racing around the clock.
